I did not like the food options at the property. It was Nosie throughout my stay, due to construction. I really enjoyed the pool and the water slide. The rooms were nice.

3.5 This places is beautiful but a bit out of the way and expensive. The staff over all was pretty friendly with the exception of security. ( I left my card at the bar and it went missing when i tried to get it back. Security didnt seem all that interested in my missing debit card. That kinda soured the trip for me.) Also there were some suprise charges when i checked out.

My biggest complaint is with Expedia who did not notify me they compete resort was under construction I would have never booked this property if I had been informed ocean view room I purchased with u was a roof and parking lot view got upgrade and charged resorts dirty smelled of lacquer construction workers everywhere standing staring at guest noise unbearable 7 days a week no relief 1 of 3 restaurants open had to walk whole resort to use restrooms and get a drink took 20-30 everyday to get hot water in shower unsafe to even walk around resort tools workers stuff to trip over thank you expidia for our worst vacation in Kona these are a few reasons why we would have never booked this property and will never return or use expidia

Amazing property with amazing views. We upgraded to oceanfront room and it was worth it. We saw Mantas at night and dolphins and a whale in the morning right from our room (binoculars helped!!) Some construction and upgrades going on at the property so few amenities were not in service; although the views and the vibe makes up for it. Staff is great!! The restaurant and food scene isn't great in the area, you need to drive 15 minutes to the town for good food. We will stay there again for sure when we visit Big Island!!

This is a wonderful resort with a great ocean front location. There is plenty to do on property and a lot more just a short drive away. We didn’t like that there was only one washer and one dryer in the laundry for an entire building. It made it very challenging to get a load of wash done. But overall it was a great stay.

We were given two rooms next to each other, but not adjoining doors, even though both rooms had adjoining doors to other people's rooms. The Ocean view we got was of the parking lot and the bay. When I booked the reservation I was told all the construction would be completed by the end of 2023, not true. Only one restaurant was open because of construction, game room and spa were under construction and not usable. All the ocean view and frontage rooms were under construction and could not be stayed in. Towel machine was broken. Staff solution was to offer us a free drink. All in all a miserable experience, I have already told friends not to stay there.

I wish we knew the extent of construction going on at this resort before we booked for a week. The following were concerns related to the construction: - Loud work noises (could be heard in our room on Floor 2) starting around 8:30AM, even on weekends - Noise also impacts the adult only pool area, as well as the 3 story tall construction tarps that hang down to the pool - Only one restaurant/bar open (I think they were opening a cafe soon) and they close early, at 9PM. There is a general store at the resort with microwavable food, but that is it after 9PM, and you are about 20-30 min by car to Kailua-Kona. - The spa is closed because of the construction The positive attributes were AMAZING views of the manta rays at night, beautiful location with nice walks, and really lovely hotel staff that were extremely kind and helpful. I am sure that when the renovations are complete this will be a better resort, but currently I recommend checking to make sure they have the amenities you are looking for prior to booking.

Property was beautiful. We stayed on the Club level but the normal area was under renovation so the Club area was allicated to the liwer level which was fine but not as nice as the upper level with ocean views. We were told we had a newly renovated room and could hear the TV from the other room that was left on overnight which did wake us up. However overall the place is beautiful and the staff were great!

We had a great 5 day stay at the Outrigger. There is construction, but we knew this when booking. We did score a pretty good deal because of this. Everyone including the construction workers were courteous and friendly. We had a newly renovated resort view room, and it was nicely done. The pool and outdoor spaces are gorgeous and the crew works hard daily at cleaning. We are confused by other reviews that say they are dated. They are clearly updating the damage that the sea does to buildings so give them a break! We drove past other resorts in the area and we loved how secluded this one is but it is helpful to have a car. If we had a complaint it would be that the dinner prices were very high and there weren’t many vegetarian options, so we went off resort for dinners. Not a huge deal but perhaps having a bigger menu with some lower priced options would be nice. We would love to see the resort fully finished!

Grounds were well maintained. The staff was wonderful! Property was undergoing renovation, so there were minor inconveniences, but nothing interfering with our pleasure. The room was very clean, but a bit tired. The bathroom could particularly use some updates to feel more modern. In a resort I prefer a walk in shower to a tub unit, and a comfort height toilet. It was also a bit cramped The overall experience was quite good, and I look forward to my next visit

Everything was pretty good except that we were not warned about the construction prior to booking nor did we expect an outdated bathroom. The tub was old and paint was already chipping and the water pressure wasn’t the best. But the view we had was beautiful.

The property is under construction and very noisy, we had trouble with air conditioning all week, had to let water run for 10-15 minutes to get hot for a shower and no spa. Couldn’t go out on observation deck to look at Mantarsys and there was no place at shower if you had to get out of room before your departure. We had a newly remodeled room so not good experience with all the troubles we had. We went for my husband’s 55th birthday and 25 year Anniversary and I let them know that upon booking and they said they would do something and they never did either day for us. I feel like for what was paid that having to pay for parking everyday is a little Ridiculous.

This looked to be a grand resort that is past its prime. The location is fantastic and the room was clean and comfortable. The overall facility is very worn out -- cracks everywhere, the toilet was coming off the wall, restaurants and decks closed because of "dangerous conditions." It reminds me of a once-glamorous movie star who is old, wrinkled, and faded. It wasn't worth the price.

Disappointing Experience at OUTRIGGER Kona Resort and Spa I stayed at OUTRIGGER Kona Resort and Spa through Expedia, expecting a relaxing vacation with premium amenities as advertised. Unfortunately, the reality was far from what was promised, leading to a very disappointing experience. Firstly, the spa, a key feature that influenced my decision to book this hotel, was under renovation, a fact not disclosed at the time of booking. The lack of transparency was disheartening. Moreover, a significant part of the hotel was also under renovation, which we were not made aware of beforehand. The conditions of our Deluxe Suite, particularly the bathrooms, were highly unsatisfactory. The water temperature in the showers was erratic and made it impossible to use both bathrooms simultaneously — a significant inconvenience for my family. Additionally, the poor drainage in the shower, leading to water accumulation, was both uncomfortable and unsanitary. When I reached out to Expedia for assistance during our stay, the response was disheartening. The lack of support and dismissal of our concerns added to our frustration. It's perplexing and unsatisfactory to be told that Expedia has no responsibility for the hotel's conditions, despite being the booking platform and the intermediary between customers and hotels. I had high expectations from both OUTRIGGER Kona Resort and Spa and Expedia, but the experience did not meet the standard promised nor justify the price paid.
