Shore Croft a luxury house on the beach

Shore Croft was built to take full advantage of its unique situation, facing south with direct access onto a pebble beach on Loch Ewe, with panoramic views out to sea. The house has a very large enclosed garden with various seating areas which allow for superb wildlife viewing.

The whole interior is beautifully designed, arranged and maintained. It is light, modern and luxurious. The sitting room and dining room/kitchen open onto wide decking from which a path leads to the garden gate which opens directly on to the beach. The house is extremely well equipped with an open fire in the sitting room. There are 4 bedrooms. A master bedroom with an en suite wet room and either 3 twin bedrooms or 2 twin and a king. There is a full bathroom / wet room upstairs as well as a downstairs loo. The kitchen / dining room is extremely large and very well equipped with a large modern range cooker and American fridge freezer.

There is an extremely large (approx 1 acre), fenced garden which has a wonderful wildlife viewing area. The wildlife sightings from this viewing area are exceptional and include otters, common dolphin, harbour porpoise and several different rare sea birds. There is also a seating area around a fire pit.

This is a romantic retreat for couples or a holiday home for up to 8 people.

Stunning Location: A twenty-minute drive over the headland from Gairloch takes you to the little village of Poolewe on the sheltered south side of Loch Ewe where the River Ewe rushes down from Loch Maree. Across the bay from Poolewe are the famous Inverewe Gardens, designed and planted by Osgood Mackenzie. Carry on along the coast for another 5 miles and you will come to the small village of Aultbea and then onto Mellon Charles at the head of the loch. From Shore Croft there are views to the Torridon mountains and out to the open sea, where on a clear day you can see the outer Hebrides. Shore Croft and the small bungalow next door share the pebbly beach, and are on the furthest edge of the settlement.

Superb Facilities: The house is fully centrally heated with under floor heating in both bathrooms. Open fire in the sitting room. Washing machine, tumble drier, large American fridge freezer with ice maker. Absolutely Stunning
It's far easier to talk about the negatives points of Shorecroft....nothing! We've stayed in holiday cottages for years and Shorecroft is by far the most outstanding. The location and views are simply stunning, Shorcroft itself is fabulous and oozes quality, from the beds and bedding through to the kitchen utensils, literally everything has been thought about and executed to perfection. There was even smoked salmon and Champagne awaiting our arrival. We definitely hope to return, thank you.

Luxurious and perfect holiday house in pure nature
The kitchen of the house is perfectly equipped and the house itself is really a dream: wonderful bedrooms, bathrooms, a living room and even a separate room for the wash machine and the wardrobe. We felt ourselves very comfortable in the house with all the lovely decorated stuff around. We really enjoyed our stay very much! And our dog enjoyed the huge garden! Lovely Place!
Very well laid out property with a luxury feel to it. All the main rooms have views over the loch. The kitchen and dining area is very well equipped. My teenage son made use of the ice maker and we made use of the Nespresso machine as our go-to luxuries. We ate in and out enjoying the beautiful scenery in front of us. We saw some fabulous sunsets when it was sunny. We relaxed in front of the scenery and did some walking, kayaking and fishing. A very peaceful area but a real hive of activity during WW11 when military personnel occupied the area for the artic convoys, a nearby museum we visited tells the story...very interesting. Some remains of the old battlements along the coast are still visible. It only took us 5 mins to drive to a well stocked store at Aultbea and we visited the market in Poolewe on a Tuesday. You can also phone the local fisherman and order fresh langoustine etc. Phone number at the store. We picked some fresh langoustine (still living) up at Badachro whilst in that area and cooked them à la Jamie Oliver. Fish n chips at Gairloch we’re also very nice. Also, amazingly, there is a local cafe, part of the perfume studio, just 10 mins walk away. Like the last bastion of civilisation before wilderness and the Atlantic! If you like the great outdoors with beautiful scenery...A great part of the world to holiday!

Magnificent views
This is a stunning house; comfy beds, well kitted out kitchen, lots of thoughtful extras. Even on wet Scottish Highlands day, the house is beautifully warm and cosy. The views are breathtaking. Would totally recommend this place - we loved it.

Just perfect in every way
This was our seventh visit to Shore Croft and every time we return we are always taken aback by the sheer beauty of the surrounding area and the luxurious house. The updated decor and artwork that have been added since our last visit are absolutely stunning. It is hard to imagine a more beautiful property in such a fabulous area with wonderful views and direct access onto the beach! I cannot recommend Shore Croft highly enough.

Fabulous
This was our second visit to Shorecroft, once again we had a fantastic holiday in this lovely property. It’s in a beautiful location and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We’ve already booked again for next year. It’s rare to find a dog friendly property that’s so luxurious and the dogs love the secure garden with access to the beach.

Stunning and the perfect place to relax.
This stunning house is situated overlooking Loch Ewe and has the most amazing views all around. It is a spacious house decorated to an extremely high standard and is so very well equipped. You will feel guilty leaving the house to visit the many nearby beautiful beaches and walks but at least you will have the knowledge of what awaits you upon your return. Stormy days give you a great excuse to stay in, to light the open fire in the living room and watch the squalls come across the Loch. It’s so comfortable with its numerous sofas. The kitchen and dining area is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. there are never arguments over the washing up because of the views and the chances of seeing the otters or the sea eagle that visited every day. There is a large fully equipped utility room next to the kitchen which doubles as a great drying room. Upstairs the master bedroom is fantastic, lots of space, views to die for and great en suite with walk in shower and under floor heating. It also has a walk in wardrobe and finally an extremely comfortable bed. There are three other very decent sized bedrooms two of which look out over the Loch. There is a large family bathroom again with walk in shower and bath. All beautifully decorated to a high standard and very comfortable. Honestly I can not recommend Shore Croft highly enough. We have stayed in cottages throughout the UK and can easily say that Shore Croft is the best of them all. This was our 5th visit - our 6th is already being planned.

Just Perfect
We have now had seven family holidays at Shore Croft over the past 10 years. When we first discovered this place, we immediately thought it was just perfect. Perfectly presented and welcoming, we felt at home straight away. There have been small changes over the years, and all of the changes have been for the better (new cooker, dishwasher, fire pit, etc.) and so this property is still our benchmark for self-catering properties. There are many things to do away from the cottage: The Perfume Studio and Aroma café are always very good, Inverewe Gardens are a must, local beaches are excellent and have superb views. For us, this is the place to stay in this region. David & Helen, Leeds

Facilities Great, Warm, comfortable, spacious
Shore Croft is a wonderful place to stay allowing immediate access to Poolewe Loch. It has been thought out with great care and attention to detail regarding the facilities it offers to allow the aftermath of the many outdoor activities to take place with great ease. The house offers all modern facilities and I would highly recommend to everyone. The beds are very comfortable and the house is lovely and warm. Wendy who looks after the house is an absolute delight, very friendly and eager to help with any issues. One word of warning - make sure you have enough fuel in the tank if you are leaving late at night (as we did). I believe the nearest 24 hour petrol station is at Contin - the first hour of our journey home was 'interesting'!! Fantastic stay - thank you.

Stunning property, stunning location
Having holidayed in the Poolewe and Gairloch area from year dot, we rarely need an excuse to visit again. However if a reason was needed, just walk out of the door at Shorecroft onto the decking and be greeted by a panorama that is unmatched anywhere in the world. it is just one of a plethora of views in the area that take the breath away. The house is superbly designed and laid out and is fitted and kitted with nothing forgotten. I am reluctantly spreading the gospel here as it may jeopardise our chances of repeat bookings!!

Wonderful Shore Croft
We've just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at Shore Croft. The house itself is spacious and modern with lots of stylish touches. Large kitchen diner equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lovely living area with a real fire and amazing views. 4 spacious bedrooms and modern bathrooms. We were very lucky with the weather and loved the outdoor seating areas and gas BBQ. Every day we spotted wildlife - dolphins, porpoises and seals, as well as numerous sea birds. We all loved the fire pit in the evenings and kids enjoyed toasting marshmallows watching the magnificent sunsets. The house is right on the most lovely pebbly beach, with direct access to another more secluded cove. All enjoyed swimming in the sea loch. Big well maintained garden. Fabulous location, 8 minute drive to local shop and nice hotel with good food. Lovely sandy beach a short drive away. In all a perfect holiday home - all declared it the best holiday ever!

Glorious Stay in Wester Ross
Where do I start? It's been 10 years since we visited this beautiful part of Scotland and the area did not disappoint. There is something magical about Loch Ewe and surrounding beaches and villages and Shore Croft was an amazing place to stay. The house is beautifully decorated with everything you need for a comfortable stay with it's own private beach. Everything has been thought of at Shore Croft to make your stay as comfortable as possible even down to providing a bed for the dog. Fantastic week and the weather was great. We can't wait to return.

A really beautifully presented and furnished house - warm, comfortable and with stunning views. We had a fabulous stay - highly recommend the Aultbea Hotel for dinner - we cycled there on the bikes provided at the house - a great addition!

Beautiful location and house, wonderful amenities
The house is beautifully constructed, has all the facilities that you're likely to need, and is situated in a beautiful location with fantastic countryside and a beach right on the doorstep. The high-quality bikes available for hire at the house enable you easily to go biking in the stunning nearby mountains. There is shopping, cafe, pub, etc. in the nearby village and we never lacked anything. This is a wonderful, restful place to spend time chilling out. Highly recommended!

Perfection
Shore Croft is a very warm, welcoming (and well insulated) property, it offers 5 star accommodation in a stunning location. The four spacious bedrooms have comfortable beds and are tastefully furnished and decorated. The bathrooms were spacious and modern and the underfloor heating was a treat! The lounge felt very homely, again with very tasteful decorations and furnishings. The kitchen / dining area was bright and modern and spacious. The large utility room was also well used! Outside is access to the pebbly beach, outdoor seating areas and fire pit, don't get too cosy inside, get wrapped up and go and watch the shooting stars. The most refreshing thing about Shore Croft was the lack of signs, there's nothing worse than being told "don't touch this, don't touch that", everything was neatly provided in a welcome pack and instruction books. Shore Croft provides everything you need, including spare light bulbs, picnic blankets, outdoor wine glasses, herbs and spices, the list is endless! Not once did we say "they haven't provided.....". The cleanliness was immaculate, top marks to the housekeeper, she keeps the place looking brand new! The quality of the towels, bedding, soaps, crockery, cutlery etc was brilliant (I'm now a big fan of The White Company)! Shore Croft...we miss you already and can't wait to come back. Thank you for a wonderful week.

Wild weather in cosy comfort
We had a fantastic wild and windy week cocooned in comfort in this delightful house, which is even better than the photos can convey. From the moment we walked through the front door we felt at home. Warm central heating, with the added bonus of an open fire, was complemented by cosy sofas, comfortable beds and a very well-equipped kitchen. The personal touches in every room made it a joyful place to spend time. During our week in early January we had wild winds, sleet and snow, but the weather is so changeable that we always managed to get out for a wonderfully invigorating walk each day. The local fisherman delivered live langoustines he had caught that day - you can't get fresher than that! And the local store had all the basics we needed. We also had lunch at the Oran-na-mara cafe in Aultbea, although most of the other places were closed at that time of the year. We really loved our winter holiday and hope to return at another time to experience the mood of a different season.

Simply Stunning!
Simply stunning were the only words I could think when I first entered Shorecroft! Even after spending a great deal of time gazing at it on the internet, those pictures could not do it enough justice and couldn't portray the instant feeling of welcoming warmth that you feel the minute you step inside. We've just spent our family Christmas there and what an amazing Christmas it was! Arriving on the day Storm Barbara was hitting Britain with 90mph winds, in particular NW Scotland, we were a little anxious what we were heading to. All I can say is those fears were soon cast aside and being cosy and safe inside watching the storm howling around us just made the holiday more enjoyable. Nothing like lighting a log fire sat tucked up in a snug warm living room, leisurely playing games and watching the ever changing Scottish skies across Loch Ewe and its beautiful landscapes. The views from the large kitchen diner windows were just as captivating. It was hard to believe how windy it was outside as the house is so wind/soundproof and cosy. I say cosy but Shorecroft isn't small, the house is deceivingly big with so much cleverly designed space inside, plenty of space for our family of six adults and two dogs to spread out. It's a beautifully maintained home with attention to detail everywhere you look and all the facilities and comfort you could wish for and stunning views from every window. It’s not somewhere you want to leave in a hurry. Having to stay in during the storms was not a chore, it was a privilege. From the moment I booked the house, owner Hilary kept in touch and was on hand helping with any queries. When we arrived champagne and salmon was waiting in the fridge, a little touch of luxury much appreciated. Wendy the housekeeper is also a credit to Shorecroft being friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Wendy’s also very knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife; it was reassuring to know a local friendly face was to hand if needed. It was magical waking up at Shorecroft Christmas morning, making a dash to our 'own' beach wrapped up in PJ's, coats and Christmas hats for the obligatory family selfie then opening Santa's stockings in front of a crackling log fire! The whole area is beautiful, Mellon Udrigle is a stunning sandy beach, Gairloch, Red Point and Cove all picturesque, endless views everywhere you look even on the cloudiest winter days. Fire pit and bikes amazing! Cannot recommend Shorecroft enough and can't wait to return!

A spectacular house in a stunning location
This was our first visit to Shore Croft and it blew us away. It is modern design at its best. A beautifully proportioned house, with panoramic views of Loch Ewe from both the kitchen/dining room ( leading out to the decking) and the lounge. It was imaginatively furnished to a high standard, with lovely fabrics and quality equipment, and was very clean and well maintained. We had a wonderful week, we swam every morning (in our wetsuits!), there were delightful walks, we cycled and lazed on the decking spotting the sea birds and occasional sightings of otters. Provisions for the week were no problem. The Aultbea General Stores (1-2 miles), deceptively unprepossessing from the outside, had everything we needed and much more, including our deli favourites and wine. We have vowed to return!!

A beautiful five star house in a great location
Having stayed at Shorecroft before I knew what to expect but even so, expectations were (as always) exceeded. It is a truly lovely cottage, so warm and inviting in chilly February weather, and superbly comfortable. There seems to be everything one could possibly want for a relaxed and at the same time luxurious stay. The kitchen is fabulously equipped and the sitting room so comfortable - evenings were spent lounging in front of the blazing log fire! A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Wonderful winter escape in the north
Shore Croft is an excellent property with everything required for a great self catered family stay. There is great attention to detail and the house works really well as an escape to relax and enjoy the amazingly beautiful scenery in the surrounding areas. I would happily return again and again to experience this gem in all the different seasons.
