La MAISMENT is a Normandy-style cottage providing comfortable, clean, homely accommodation. We have tried to create a holiday home that we would like to find when travelling as a couple (all the home-to-home comforts including free wifi) or when we travelled with our children when they were young (without having to fill the car with children's equipment). It is extremely child-friendly: Spacious mezzanine bedroom/playroom and a well-equipped play area outside in an enclosed garden. Lots of baby/toddlers' equipment : 2 cots, 2 high chairs, baby's bath, potty, children's cutlery and plates/dishes, stairgate, bed rails, etc + plenty of toys, books, DVDs + games. The main bedroom is on the ground floor next to the bathroom. It has a king-size bed (160 X 200) with 2 good quality mattresses and a cot. There are 2 bedrooms on the mezzanine, one with a double bed, the other with 2 singles and also a cot. The bathroom has a large shower, double washbasins and a towel dryer. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge-freezer, micro wave oven, electric oven with a vitro-ceramic hob, kettle, toaster, coffee machine etc. The living area has a comfortable 3-seater sofa and armchair, a large flat-screen TV and DVD player. Outside on the patio there's garden furniture (table + chairs + sunshade + barbecue) for al fresco dining and sun-loungers for relaxing in the garden. There's a playhouse for children as well as swings and a slide. Not forgetting the hens' park - a big hit with children who enjoy feeding them food scraps and being rewarded with fresh eggs :-)
There are 2 swimming pools, both a 15-minute drive.
Ideal for sightseeing: Honfleur + Deauville on the coast 1-hour away, the D-day beaches slightly further. Cerza Wildlife Park a 45-minute drive. Monet's house + gardens about 1 hour away. Several local chateaux (4 within a 20-minute drive) one with an 18-hole golf course. For sport-lovers: cycling, canoeing, kayaking, wind-surfing, fishing, golf, tennis, horse-riding and swimming. Or just relax in the garden or down at the sandy, lakeside beach in Brionne. Stroll in the local shops, mingle with the population, and practise your French! Walk in the countryside, grab a bargain at a Brocante/Foire à Tout (Street Fair), play French boules with the locals, or just sip a glass of wine on a terrace café as you watch the world go by.

Great house for kids
Really enjoyed our stay. Lots of toys for the kids, really enjoyed the fresh veg and eggs and feeding the chickens, and Maddie was lovely. 2 bedrooms are on a mezzanine level with a balcony down to the ground floor. Worked out fine for the kids but would have liked to have known before booking

Brilliant accomodation
Maddie (the owner)was there if required and very helpful. Well equipped and quiet place to stay. If you have children there is a vast amount od toys and a toy shed. There are chickens at the end of the garden and love to be fed any scraps you have left. The garden is well kept and very pleasant. I give it 5 stars.

Our stay at La Maisment was very enjoyable, the gite is set in a quiet village with easy access to a range of interesting towns, villages and chateaux. A week wasn't really long enough to tour the surroundings as well as lounge about in the garden. There was a family with two little girls next door and the facilities for young children were superb.Overall we thought La Maisment was well equipped , comfortable and good value. We greatly appreciated Maddie's welcome.

Lovely cottage for exploring this beautiful area.
A very clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage. Excellently positioned for access to so many places of interest across this area of Normandy. In spite of rain at some point of most days, we were able to find somewhere to visit on each of our 10 days, and discovered there was so much more that we just didn't have time to fit in. Definitely going to need a return visit, The owners provide lots of information on the local area and the best ways to reach various towns and attractions. They also provided a welcome pack of food stuffs that was very well thought out - everything you need on arrival before you have chance to get to the supermarket. They were very easy to contact and quick to respond when we needed to get in touch or ask for advice. Our only suggestion would be that the property description should make it clearer that access to the main bedroom is actually via the bathroom and that La Maisment does adjoin another cottage, Le Batison. Although each property has its own patio/dining area, much of the garden facilities are shared. Whilst this didn't cause us a problem on this visit (the other property was only occupied for 3 days of the 10 we were staying) if the weather had been better and we had wanted to make use of the sun loungers, we would not have had any privacy if a family staying in the adjacent cottage had been using the children's play equipment or were accessing the parking area. This aside, we had a lovely holiday, one of the most comfortable beds we have had in a holiday cottage, and found more to recommend about this property than to find fault with. Our thanks and appreciation to Maddie and Bruno for being such wonderful hosts and looking after us so well.

Het vakantiehuisje is knus en netjes. Alle dagelijkse broodnodige benodigdheden staan ter beschikking. Allerlei speelgoed, spelletjes enzovoort staan uitnodigend in functie van het kind. Als ik dan èèn opmerking mag maken, de mezzanine lijkt me enkel geschikt voor kleine - en of opgroeiende kinderen. Het huisje wordt aangeboden met drie slaapkamers, wat overdreven lijkt Dit mag anders omschreven worden. Men zou meteen denken aan zes volwassen personen, maar vergis u niet! Daarvoor is de ruimte veel te klein en onpraktisch. Gelukkig waren wij met vier en dat lukte net.

Très bon séjour, tout y est, très adapté pour les enfants. Petit bémol, l'insonorisation dans la maison, le parquet craque énormément et dans la maison voisine. Par contre un accueil irréprochable, des hôtes très à l'écoute et très attentionnés!!! Le top!! Jardin très bien et dispose de tous les équipements pour petits et grands. Une maison idéale pour y passer d'agréables vacances. Merci

Perfect for a holiday with small children
Like many reviews stated, this house is perfect for a stay with young children. Everything you need is there: children's cutlery, cots, changing mat, baby bath, high chair and many many many toys. Whenever we left my son kept asking: when will we return, I want to play there! Ideal to have a washing machine and dish washer as well. There is a lot to do in the area, so you won't be bored a bit. Small things for improvement: safety 'gate' downstairs as well (there is one upstairs) so children won't climb the stairs by themselves. The fence is placed for privacy (so we think) however this blocks the view from the house at the garden, so it makes it a bit harder to watch your children. There are so many plates, cups and glasses that you could use a different one every day and still be eating from a new plate after a week. This does mean that there is hardly room to store your groceries. If you want a holiday with very small children where you can sit back, relax on your sun chair and have them play in the garden: simply book it! Be aware this is one holiday home, connected to another one in the same building with an openly connected garden. No problem for us. You can hear the neighbors through the walls as well as people walking upstairs in the mezzanine in your own home. Maddy is an absolutely lovely host. Ready to help you in whatever way, very quickly responding and she wrote a nice guest guide to help you to find your way. We would definetely return.

Geweldige vakantie
We hebben, ondanks COVID 19, een geweldige vakantie gehad. Het is een compleet huisje waar niets ontbrak. Zelfs over de extra loge werd niet moeilijk gedaan. Het enige wat ons een beetje tegenviel, mede omdat het niet duidelijk uit de omschrijving bleek, was dat het twee huizen in een tuin waren. Het heeft geen problemen gegeven, maar het was fijn om dit van te voren te weten. Verder is Maddie een geweldige gastvrouw die het begin van de vakantie perfect verzorgd met een startpakket voor het ontbijt de volgende dag. En natuurlijk niet te vergeten de verse eitjes, tomaten en komkommers. Al met al een aanrader en wie weet nog eens voor ons als weer naar Normandië gaan.

Relaxing in a calm and peacefull home
We had a wonderfull stay at Aclou in a calm environment. The house had everything you needed. The kids loved the garden and all the toys. They also loved feeding the chickens. Maddie was very kind and we were thankfull for the eggs and vegetables she gave us. For us it's a place to come back to.

Excellent Accueil - parfait pour les enfants
La maison est adorable, l'accueil de Maddie très sympathique. Elle a été parfaitement disponible. La maison est excellemment équipée en termes de matériels pour enfants (deux lits bébés, deux lits enfants). Malheureusement une des pièces était indisponibles à cause du Covid (rotation des jouets d'une semaine sur l'autre), ce qui est tout à l'honneur de Maddie.

Très bon séjour en famille
Nous avons passé une semaine de repos en famille très agréable. La maison est relativement petite mais confortable, propre et l'accueil de Maddie est excellent. Rien ne manque pour une famille avec un bébé de 8 mois et enfant de 7 ans. Nous avons apprécié la proximité des poules (même si en cette saison, elles ne pondent pas... ce que j'ignorais). Nous avons joué au croquet comme dans Alice au pays des merveilles et avons essayé de tenir sur les échasses. Un jeu de boules "adulte" serait bienvenu. La maison est bien située pour le ravitaillement (en voiture) mais l'endroit manque de sentiers pour se promener... nous avons trouver un seul chemin accessible à pied après 15 mm de marche sur une petite route et il faut prendre la voiture pour rejoindre le GR 224. Bon, c'est vrai qu'en été on peut s'en doute se satisfaire du jardin, mais en hiver en Normandie nous aimons marcher... Merci à Maddie pour son accueil et sa jolie maison.
