Nice and quiet place out away from it all. Between the lake and game barn, there was plenty to do for everyone. The hosts are very nice and were always helpful and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

Rustic Getaway
3 moms and 6 kids under 12 wanted an adventure outside the typical city life! We sure found it! Once we arrived we were in awe of the beauty of the lake. The cabin was rustic and adorable. It had everything we needed for our stay. The lake was so clean and the dock was big and well taken care for. There was so much to do there. The kids loved jumping off the trampoline and the pontoon boat and the adults loved floating and paddle boarding. At night we enjoyed making smores on the bonfire and sitting out on the large deck. Dave and Rusty were the best hosts! So helpful and kind. They have a lovely property and we are thankful they shared it with us.

Rustic Get Away
Fishing was amazing. Rustic is accurate. If you want a getaway deep in the woods, this is the place for you. The lake is fully stocked, and the owners are very friendly. No washer and dryer, so take extra towels if you plan a long stay like we did. Pontoon boat was fun, and the kids loved the trampoline. The Smores were a nice gift waiting for us when we arrived.

Couldn't have had a better time!
The remote peacefulness of this location was amazing. Rustic isn't a valued word anymore. Wildly fun to sit on the patio of the cabin and just listen to nature and the rainfall, my gosh! We walked trails, played rounds of games in the gaming cabin. Swam and jumped off that pontoon a dozen or so times. The paddle boards were great too! We totally plan to go back and have already been making plans to see the Happy Farm family again!

Perfect for a Long Weekend!
We had a group of 7 stay at the property for an outdoorsy girls weekend and it was amazing! I would definitely recommend staying at least two nights, if only because it really is in the middle of nowhere and you've to take advantage of everything the place has to offer: canoes, SUP, pontoon (included and you take it out yourself), campfire, and trails on site. The one-shower situation can be dicey, but if you stay at the property - who cares? :) Dave & Rusty were extremely communicative and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone in our group agreed that they would be keen to stay here again.

Myself, fiance and our two dogs enjoy a cabin retronce a year. This year, we were fortunate enough to stay at Happy Farm. It was relaxation at its best and we enjoyed the smores they left us to make over the fire pit.

Awesome place for families
This place is amazing! The kids (ages 2-8) loved the game barn, water trampoline, canoes and kayaks. Our dogs loved roaming around the property. Everything is there for a campfire. There was enough to do that you don't need to leave the property. The owner is super helpful. The almond cake waiting for us was delicious! Definitely will be back!

Unique forested oasis in rural eastern Missoury
This is a place for those who love history and nature. Old cabin memorabilia is fascinating to read. The cabin itself looks like it came from a fairytale. All listed amenities are present. Owners are very nice and attentive. Private pond is large and lovely. The forested lot is huge, and the property trail system is expansive and fun to explore. I would highly recommend this place for nature lovers and families.

Overall amazing! David and Rusty are wonderful! The property is truly a hidden gem. Our 2 dogs had just as much fun as we did. I am hesitant to recommend it for selfish reason because I want to come back week after week! :) Looking forward to our next visit/stay.

Perfect family getaway
We stayed for 5 days without leaving the property and had plenty to keep us busy. Our kids loved the water trampoline, we all loved jumping off the roof of the boat, we caught lots of fish, enjoyed the game room, and spent lots of time just relaxing on the porch. Our dogs (who are city dwelling creatures) had the time of their life roaming the property. The hosts are hospitable, welcoming, and very helpful. We had a lovely time. We hope to come back next year.

This was an amazing place. Our family celebrated my daughters 7 birthday!
The property was beautiful and it was the perfect place to unwind and let the kids run free. The lake was perfect for swimming and the floating lake trampoline was a big hit. We had access to the golf cart, kayaks, canoe and pontoon boat. We would definitely be back. David and Rusty were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was also stocked with just about everything you would need. Thank you David and Rusty for having us and sharing your home with us.

Secluded and Peaceful
We arrived at Happy Farm around 5 pm on a Thursday evening. The cabin was lit up for us... Warmly welcoming us into it’s beautiful 125 year old charm. We were able to unload all of our gear and the owner and ultimate host came out to introduce himself as well as tell us about the property and features. With 4 young boys and a 1 year old pup I was a little skeptical regarding comfort and space. The cabin offers modern amenities- a full kitchen, 1 1/2 bathrooms and plenty of sleeping space. While it was definitely a rustic getaway, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect couple of days. We went fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and just floated around on rafts. Perfect 💜

Peaceful, restful, rustic getaway
A perfect secluded getaway. No phone service made it even better. Great way to disconnect and recharge. Property is beautiful. Lake is calm. This is a true rustic log cabin that has updated amenities. We were there on a weekend that had heat advisories and it was extremely hot out but cabin was perfect respite from the sun when needed. Owners are so friendly and helpful and so many things are provided. I enjoyed getting up early with coffee on the big deck watching sunrise over the tree tops. If you need a break from the city, work grind and want to unplug for a few days, this is the place to go! We will go back. Thank you Dave and Rusty!

Scenic and Peaceful. Perfect Long Weekend 2 hours from St. Louis!
My best and friend and I stayed for a much overdo mom's weekend (without the kids!) in early June. We had googled the wineries and other nearby sites to see, but once we arrived, we honestly didn't want to leave. The cabin is 100+ years old with original log walls-really cool for the history lover like me- but it's updated and modern with cute touches inside and out. You're in the woods, so you may see some bugs, and cell service was spotty, but that's the only negative. The owner's home is up the hill so they're nearby if you need anything. The wraparound deck is completely private with built in gas grill/bar, patio furniture, firepit. The darts were fun. Christmas lights at night kept it lit up outside but we could still see the stars. The best is the lake. It's clear, gorgeous and so serene. Bring a book, cooler, lunch and drinks- they have the rafts and pontoon boat (no extra charge!). There's also a gorgeous meadow-like yard in front of the barn that we didn't use, but it would accommodate a baseball game or even a wedding. Owners were sweet as could be (Rusty had a cake for us on arrival), but gave us privacy. Would highly recommend, and my friend Erin already booked a weekend in August to return with her husband. Tip: stop in Perryville Walmart on the way down (if coming from St. Louis) and stock up, and you won't need to leave. Staying here is like staying in your own private lake property. We loved every minute. Thanks Dave and Rusty for your hospitality!!
