"We stayed at 3 Berjaya hotels and of them, this was our least favorite. Most notably, there was a strange smell in the room (I think because of the shower?) that reminded me of wet dog. The shower also was clogged so it would fill up to your ankles and I’d worry about it spilling over into our room. Besides this, the lobby of the hotel was very nice, as was the staff. "On the hillside across the fjord from the airport and town, it was in the middle of having an extension when we were there (boy, Icelandic builders are hardy) so was a little out of sorts. That said, it is kept in immaculate order, and I’m sure the extension will be great. Currently it’s just 8 rooms, and won’t be so much bigger next year, but will have an internal lift so you don’t have to go outside to get to the lower rooms. There isn’t a restaurant, but the breakfast buffet is a good start...

"Great apartment! Centrally located on the main drag in Akuryeri and right next to this fabulous cafe called Berlin! The flat itself was spacious yet cozy, and after traveling for a few days it was a nice place to relax and watch movies while it snowed outside. The beds and linens were very comfortable, and there was off-street parking in a private lot. Would definitely book again! Wish we stayed longer than 1 night!"
