Alaska Botanical Garden is a place of serenity amid pleasant floral displays. Its orderly presentation of plants and birch trees is spread out across 110 acres (45 hectares. Make your way through the various picturesque sections of the garden and enjoy the fresh air in this natural environment.

Enter Lile’s Garden for its tranquil vibe and smart landscape gardening designs. Architects and artists collaborated to form this garden, which has Alaskan fruit trees and acclaimed peony and primula flowers.

Inspect some of the 1,100 species of plants in the Upper and Lower Perennial gardens. Browse the herb garden and consider which plants would spice up your meals. Relax among the alpine plants in the stylish rock garden.

Hike through 1.1-mile (1.8-kilometer) Lowenfels-Hoersting Family Nature Trail with the kids. The highlight is Campbell Creek, where salmon spawn. Enjoy views of the Chugach Range and spot wildlife. Embark on the wildflower walk and capture photos of the charming floral displays.

The Anchorage Heritage Garden is a fascinating opportunity to step back in time to the botanist trends from between 1915 and 1950 in this region. Discover temporary exhibitions on the theme of vegetation and botany.

Purchase tools, plants and food from the gift shop. Ingredients such as garlic are grown on-site and available to buy. The garden first opened in 1993 with a mission to use plants for decoration and education.

Alaska Botanical Garden is in southeast Anchorage, a 7-mile (11-kilometer) drive from the city center. There is an admission fee with discounts for kids. Toddlers enter for free. The site is open year-round from dawn to dusk. Nearby attractions include the Far North Bicentennial Park, North Fork Campbell Creek and the University of Alaska Anchorage. Walk up the driveway past the fence and enter through the gate.
