Bird Creek Chalet - 1 mile from Salmon Fishing!

There's plenty of space for the whole family at this serene, enchanting retreat nestled in the woods right by the famous fishing at Bird Creek and epic ocean view skiing at Girdwood. The cabin is located only 10 miles from Girdwood and half an hour from Anchorage. Bring your bikes and ride the Bird to Gird paved trail along the ocean or take it to Bird Creek to go fishing only 1 mile away. The road to the cabin connects directly to the Bird to Gird trail with a pedestrian tunnel under the highway. You can also enjoy roasting smores at the new fire pit. We've spent several months breathing new life into this quaint chalet so you can enjoy a relaxing getaway surrounded by trees, the ocean, and mountains. Whether you call Alaska home or you're just looking for a place to stay while visiting Alaska, our Bird Creek Chalet is the peaceful and cozy escape you're looking for.
No Smoking or Vaping Indoors or near exterior doors. Please make sure to SHOWER BEFORE USING THE HOT TUB and remove makeup. Do not add any chemicals or shock. The downstairs remodel is finally finished and the downstairs living room with the 65" TV, Bar, Bedroom, Bathroom, and Laundry are all yours to enjoy! There is a neighbor about 50 yards away from the cabin on one side. Please be respectful. They are super nice. It is about a 1/2 mile dirt road to get there but its not in bad shape. It's plowed and not steep but we would recommend all wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, and snow tires for winter stays. Please put trash in the bear cans and do not leave trash bags outside as there are bears in the area as well as ravens that will make a mess of it. Upon checkout please start the dishwasher as well as a load of towels and sheets.

We stayed 3 nights to start our Alaskan adventure and the house is wonderful! Plenty of space to spread out & delightfully secluded. Great access to walking/biking trails and the hot tub was the perfect way to end our day. Stay here, you’ll love it

Loved being in the woods
It was a lovely stay. Very happy with it overall! Easy access from the main road. Accessible to all the southeast activities, Girdwood tram, Wildlife Conservation, Portage Glacier, Train to Spencer Glacier, and Seward. The perfect location for that. Unfortunately, things are.always perfect, and thats expected for Alaska. The upstairs loft bedroom had no working plugs, so we had to leave our phones and tablets downstairs.. Whoever stayed before us, or maybe they weren't aware, blew a circuit with a plug because it had burns, and they couldn't get service until after we were there. If it was possible to visit before our stay, , they wpuld have seen the issue, but thats not always possible, it didnt ruin our stay. It was a darling place and I would recommend staying there again, and for anyone who asks. It fit our family of 6 perfectly.. Also we were greeted by our neighbors doggie who was so sweet.

Alaska
We stayed here one evening enroute from Seward to Talkeetna. The highlight was the moose that came onto the property. The home was okay. It could have been better taken care of: bathroom blinds were broken and semi pinned up, mildew smell in bathroom shower and bathroom could have been better cleaned, every time someone walked in the bedroom loft you could hear the loud squeaking of the floor boards with each step, screen door on sliding back door kept falling off the track. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was nice. Simple fixes that would show better care of the home.

We stayed at this property for 4 days before a cruise. The location was beautiful and close to lots of beauty. The host communication was fabulous. The house had great amenities and lots of space for all of us. Beds were comfy and everything was super clean. Would recommend this house 10/10.

Lovely space!
We really enjoyed our stay! Beautiful wooded area, comfortable beds, lots of blankets and fully equipped kitchen to make meals. Wifi and tv set up was very comfortable and there was a great space to play games. It was nice to be outside of Anchorage proper and so close to the water. Just a heads up, the neighbours are quite close and had their dog off leash so she came over to say hello a few times (very friendly towards humans, barked at our dog a couple times but no harm no foul). Despite the proximity, the stay was still private and quiet.

Alaskan family vacation
The chalet was very nice and had plenty of room for my family. The location was close to many nice hiking trails and not too far from our glacier tour in Whittier. The house was well set up and even had shampoo in the bathrooms which was a nice touch for anyone who forgot something. I recommend this stay for groups who want to avoid hotels and have a little privacy the neighborhood was quiet.

Nice place in Good Spot
House was nicely set-up with many bedrooms and great kitchen. Location only 30 minutes out of Ancjorage and 10 minutes from Girdwood making it a great homebase for a couple days. Road is a little rough but feels secluded. Enjoyed our stay

We had an amazing bridal shower and stay.
When we got to the house, it had not been cleaned because of a mis-communication with the cleaner not showing, but as soon as I called Russ he had someone come over and get it cleaned. We set up for the bridal shower while she was there and it was not an issue. She was super great and thorough and the owner made it up to us. The stay was an absolute blast! Perfect spot for a ladies sleep-over and bridal party. The property was beautiful, secluded but minutes from the highway. The hot tub was a hit and there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably. Floors in the house are a bit noisy for light sleepers but the whole stay was magical and perfect. Would recommend. Thanks Russ!

Family trip
We had a lovely stay at the chalet! Everything was clean and comfortable in a GREAT location! We loved the decor and the views! Because of some recent rains we did have to drive carefully in the driveway (gravel) to avoid bottoming out our car. Otherwise all was perfect.

Great stay that is a little removed
We recently did a family trip to take a cruise; was a surprise trip for our father who has talked about going for decades. We opted to fly into Anchorage and explore on land a few days before going to Seward to hop on the cruise ship. We are so glad that we opted for the few extra days beforehand instead of taking a bus straight to the cruise ship. This stay in Bird Creek was exactly what we wanted. It had plenty of space for our group, was super clean and comfortable. We appreciated that it was a bit removed; not in Anchorage and not in Alyeska. But this served as a great central location for us to explore nearby for a couple of days. The host team were very responsive to any questions we had, and were even flexible with our arrival time. If you are looking for a place that is a little more removed but within short driving distance, this is a great option especially if you have a large group. Many beds and bedrooms, large TV, even a hot tub (although we never got a chance to take a dip!).

Great spot for us
My wife bright our family here to stay while we hosted our daughter’s wedding in Girdwood. Great spot and property. The only reason I have 4 stars on cleanliness is that I am 6’7” and see some things that most people don’t. I’d stay there again and recommend to anyone.
