Wonderful place to stay while kayaking the Black River. Clean, well stocked, super communication from the host. If you are looking for a very quiet cabin and the serenity of the woods, look no further.

Slice of Heaven
One of the most relaxing and peaceful vacations we've ever had. The host, Heather, was available for any questions and her personal touches at the cabin were appreciated...so thoughtful!

Fun times
Enjoyed our stay. Nice secluded location. Cabin and river access was outstanding. Fishing, swimming, tubing, sitting on the front porch watching and listening to the rain on the tin rooftop was just what we needed.

Beautiful cabin!
The cabin and the property the cabin was on was absolutely serene and beautiful! I loved the privacy and living in nature. The cabin itself is clean and so nicely put together. This is just enough to enjoy a few days "off the grid." We will definitely be staying here again in the future!

Great, secluded spot
We had a lovely time at the cabin! We stayed for the total eclipse and enjoyed a quiet private viewing in the woods! Our two little dogs were very happy at the property. The road leading down is a little bit rough, but that is the last 3 mile leg of the journey. You can hike up a nearby hill for cell reception if you need to connect, but the best part of this cabin was unplugging and relaxing. The short walk down the road leads to the large gravel riverbank. Fun for fossil hunting, skipping rocks, and fishing! Thank you for your hospitality!

Fall family getaway
Our family had an awesome stay here! Super cozy cabin. The location is remote - down a long gravel road - we drove the truck, but I think a mini van could have made it just fine. The cabin is very close to the Black River with beautiful beach access. We would definitely come back again! My only complaint is that the light fixtures and fans were very dirty with lots of spiderwebs. Wonderful cabin, but could use a deeper cleaning.

Great place near Black River
Great proximity to the Black River and private gravel bar. Secluded and quiet. The gravel road wasn't that bad! We had a truck and a Toyota Corolla. Just don't try to turn in the first entrance, pass the cabin then turn! Nice to unplug as a family!

Peaceful retreat, beautiful river access
Great little cabin, secluded and quiet. Just a short drive on the side by side to the Black River. The river access is beautiful and quiet during the week. The AC at the cabin works great! And sitting on the front porch was relaxing. The shower water pressure was nice, but the kitchen sink water pressure was really low, hard to wash dishes. Otherwise it was a great stay!

Just what we needed!
We needed a reset from everyday life. The cabin was beautiful the porch is amazing! We enjoyed the river it’s one of my favorite rivers. It’s crystal clear and we love trying to find amazing rocks and arrow heads. Heather the owner has the house stocked with things you need. It’s best to travel to Ellington for groceries as there is only a dollar general in Annapolis. If you can float or canoe the river it’s a great experience! We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!

Lovely Cabin and Wonderful owner
Our trip was unfortunately cut short due to forecasts of large amounts of rain and possible flooding but the owner was amazing to work with and very understanding. The cabin is rustic, cozy, and spotless. The walk to the river was calm and beautiful, about a 1/4 mile down the rock road. For the short time we were there we loved it! The gravel drive is long but managable. Thanks again for everything!

Unplugged Family Time
We celebrated my son’s 14th birthday with a weekend stay in the cabin and kayak trip from Jeff’s Canoe Rental. It was perfect!! Cabin had everything we needed including firewood. We fished, saw wildlife (buck whitetail crossed the river), lots card games, ate well, roasted hotdogs/marshmallows over the fire, and talked to each other lots! Very comfy beds. Very welcoming decor. Kitchen even had crock pot for a meal to cook while we floated. Highly recommend. My husband already asked when we were going again. Much easier than camping!

The best stay!
Ok so this place was amazing! The road was a bit much at first. But was awesome the more we drove it. The cabin was exactly what I wanted. It was clean and inviting. It had all we needed ! The entire experience was great! I will come back every year if possible! If you want to disconnect from the world this is the place. No internet . No TV. Just peace and nature. I love love love this place! The host was awesome as well!

Breathtaking River / Cozy Cabin
Heather is the most thoughtful host! There were plenty of towels and high-end toiletries!! The cabin is very clean, and the hammock was so relaxing. The air conditioning was arctic cold to really balance out the warm days. We were on the most beautiful section of the Black River! The lane is long but well maintained and I had no problem in my Subaru. They even had wood ready to go in the fire pit for us. Such a beautiful spot! We met a really nice couple with beautiful German Shepherds and it truly made me wish I had another! Wonderful dogs. This is a very special place and I thank you for sharing it with us.

Heaven on the River!
This property was amazing! Completely secluded and that was awesome to not feel like we were intruding on other peoples stay. The river access was definitely a perk. No cell service and wifi was perfect for disconnecting. The wrap around porch was fantastic for just hanging out and napping! Could not have asked for a better time, place, location. We had some hiccups finding the place due to lack of service and not access to map apps but once we figured it out… fantastic. My advice to anyone booking, make sure you have an SUV or Pickup truck, you travel quite a bit on a long unpaved road. Also make sure to get check in instructions while you still have service. Heather, the property manager/owner, was very helpful and responsive to all of my questions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Our own Walden Pond Experience
If you have ever wanted to escape it all and escape the outside world, with it’s distractions and noise… this is your place. There is no television, no Wi-Fi, nothing but old fashioned, Norman Rockwell goodness. ( Ok… there are modern conveniences like a microwave and coffee maker with varied k-cups, but you know what I mean.) Our family quickly fell into a soothing routine of cooking, talking, sitting on the porch, making s’mores at the campfire, sitting under the stars, playing board games, and swimming at the private river access. It was a welcome pause in time and I will always remember it. The roads are country roads, so you can’t drive your low riding sports car here, but it’s the country… That’s part of the experience. We loved it and will be back for sure!

Annual Float
Would highly recommend this cabin. Hosts were great to deal with, great communication and she thought of everything. Cabin very well stocked. Even had firewood for us. Very cute cabin, and clean. The wrap around covered front porch was awesome since we did have some rain while there. Porch is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. Having our own private gravel bar was great to hang out. Very short drive down the from the driveway to gravel bar. If you are looking for a secluded cabin, this is it. You are definitely secluded and are off the grid while you are there. Limited cell service, if any depending. There is absolutely no one around, super secluded. Helpful Tip: May want to have everything you need before arriving, as it is not a quick jaunt to the nearest store. Cabin is at the end of a very long gravel road out. We all loved the cabin and would highly recommend and we will be using in the future.

Perfect cabin for a black river float trip
This property was great. Spacious rooms & outdoor areas. Awesome deck space & firepit area. The grill needs to either be moved or have fans by it to blow the smoke off the porch....the smoke completely filled the covered porch area. The bathroom was not so great. The toilet took a very long time to refill, which makes it hard for multiple people to all use the bathroom in the morning. The shower head was clogged so the water sprayed everywhere except on the person showering. Additionally, the shower curtain liner was on the same pole as the shower curtain so the bathroom floor flooded with every shower, so 5 times a day for our group. We had to use so very many towels for soaking up water on the bathroom floor. Amazing river access, but we did get a nasty note from jeffs canoes on our vehicle that we left parked there while we were kayaking. This was a memorial trip for my dad and very emotionally draining, so at the end of the day having passive aggressive threats from a local outfitter wasnt what i wanted to be seeing. Providing the host with license plate numbers that Jeffs canoes can access would resolve this issue easily and avoid future guests possibly having their vehicle towed. I made sure i didnt park in any road ways or areas where the outfitter offloads or parks their vehicles, so this nasty note was really uncalled for. .

Perfect Getaway
My husband, I and 4 teenagers stayed at the cabin. Though the thought of NO Wi-Fi was mind boggling for them initially, we all had the most amazing time. We went to the river, played board games, puzzles. We grilled, used the fire pit w/provided wood. We enjoyed the open yard, they played baseball, football, hung out in the hammock, and just reconnected and enjoyed good company. I don’t think the kids even missed not having cell service. The property is very secluded, but perfect for relaxing, disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnecting with family. The cabin was clean and well stocked! Air conditioning was ice cold, perfect for escaping the summer heat when needed. Though one bathroom, the hot water never ran out allowing us nice hot showers after long days in the river and sun. We even enjoyed a thunderstorm, the rain on the tin roof was relaxing and so soothing. Heather was very responsive and even helped us figure the weather out to help plan our float trip around incoming rain. I Highly recommend stopping in Ellington or another nearby town and get ice, milk, groceries or whatever is needed before hand. We thought we may be able to run to the store “real quick” initially… nope! A break from people is what we asked for, and that’s what we got! The road to the house is a drive, but it is picturesque and the scenery is beautiful. We had a minivan and was able to drive the road with no problems. 10/10 recommend and would return!

I would love to go back!!
We loved the cabin, it was clean and well kept. Google maps led us astray, but I called the owner and she got us right there. I loved the location, but wish it wasn’t such a long gravel road to get there. I’ll still go back anyway!
