"Terrible hotel. Don’t stay here. Checkin stated as from 3pm. Room not ready till 5pm even when travelling with two small children. Hotel staff told me that our room could be available from 3pm and it was their choice when it would be available - it took me getting rather frustrated for 10 minutes before they said that they apologised. Room quality really poor, food really poor, hotel al tired and staff overall poor. Don’t stay here"

"Plenty of parking. The Spa is really nice. The staff is really nice. The towels are stiff, if you can deal with that it’s good place to stay. The breakfast is good. The dining seemed to be short staffed or just slow. We had dinner a couple doors up the street. It was amazing. Overall we will stay there again. "

"I booked this hotel at the last moment without knowing much about the area, other than I was going Obergurgl to ski. I was pleasantly surprised! I was greeted by Rebekka who walked me through all of the hotel amenities while serving me a welcome beverage. She handled every detail of my stay, including arranging my four day ski pass. The hotel if beautifully appointed in the Alpine style. I didn't know what "half board" meant when I booked the hotel...it means that dinner, as well as...

"Die Lage dieses Hotels ist wirklich einzigartig. Es ist ein 3 Sterne-Hotel und erfüllt alle Erwartungen. Die Lage verursacht jedoch bei vielen Gästen körperliche Probleme wie Kopfschmerzen und Übelkeit. Deshalb würden wir empfehlen ein oder zwei Nächte in Kurzras bei der Talstation zu verbringen. Bei schlechtem Wetter, was in den Alpen immer vorkommen kann, fährt die Seilbahn nur eingeschränkt oder auch gar nicht. Wir hatten leider an 3 Tagen Sturm mit Windgeschwindigkeiten bis 80 km/h. "Lovely hotel, good facilities and pleasant staff. Staff speak limited English, but enough to get things done. It’s a half board, but doesn’t include any drinks. On the first night we thought that the house wine was included as menu had no price. We then got a bill the next day, which was fine, but just bear in mind that drinks are not included - it wasn’t clear to us. Staff also don’t know the prices, on the following night we asked how much the wine costed, we were told 31 euros and it ended up...

" Greeting with Champagne and tour through hotel. Hotelroom nice and clean. Beds comfortable. Dinner that was included was a 5 course meal that was excellent. Breakfast buffet was also excellent. Worth a trip and stay. 35 minutes from Merano. We did not have children with us but great for families."

Amazing place!

"The room was great! Floors were heated, large bathroom and bedroom. Amazing views out the windows! The facility has two restaurants that are great, the spa is amazing! They give you robes and everyone in the hotel stays in them most of the day. The underground to the theme pools is awesome! This was an amazing place to stay! Right in the middle of old town and Christmas markets!"

Would most definitely stay again

"Great stay. Interesting arrival as you need to pull in behind the hotel in an alley to unload and check in. They have a porter for your luggage and very nice staff. Breakfast was more than ample. Staff was amazing and location cannot be beat. Parking is easy, just across the river in the Therm parking under the street. Room was more than average size and clean"

Great, but needs some improvement

"Overall it was a lovely stay. The food was very good, both for breakfast and dinner. I also loved that they offered fresh juices, which is not something many places offer. I think the hotel rooms are in need of refurbishing as they are quite dated. I also think the hotel should definitely be fitted with air conditioning as it was far too hot throughout the whole hotel, in the gym and in our room. We had the electric fan going all night and the window open but that still did not allow for a fully rested sleep as it was so hot."

"Castel Rundegg is an old fashioned hotel in the very best sense. It is a beautiful building in a most beautiful town, with comfortable public areas and spacious well appointed bedrooms. Those who are looking for discos and fast food options might choose elsewhere, but it does offer superb cuisine, stunning gardens and an old world elegance. It also boasts extensive pool, sauna and spa treatments. We look forward to returning there."
