It's sad that the observatory will cease operations soon, following the demise of the dish. There is so much scientific history to this place. The visitor's quarters are clean and quaint (they kind of have a 1960s/70s vibe) and well air conditioned. I loved my stay there.
The property was absolutely perfect. The room #11 is located in the first floor and offer a great natural view. The balcony is one of the plus of the room. Everything was very clean, great parking, safe (be careful with the door safe lock; if going to the balcony be sure to go outside with the keys or be sure to take out the door look). The house keeper and the security officer in the entrance of the Arecibo Observatory where we pick up and returned the key, both were very gentle. Definitely, we gonna go again to the Arecibo Observatory-VSQ.
If you need to be near the Observatory that's the right place because it's part of the place. The view was espectacular. The pool is very small but ok. However, the only thing that I would change is the communication to found the place. The only way to know where the place is located is asking the security personnel in the entrance of the Observatory.
Great experience. Out of the chaos of the city, this hotel is situated just outside the Observatory. Nestled in the trees of the mountain foliage makes for a wonderful experience.
This was a great one night stay after visiting the observatory. It is true that there is no wifi and you have to keep your cell phone in airplane mode to prevent impacts on the radio telescope, so that is important to know going in. Otherwise, the location was convenient, very clean and comfortable, and very quiet! The view was also gorgeous. The pool was not available for use, but we weren't interested in that anyway. I would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.
I knew the place was very remote, so there was no surprise. The check-in was confusing. You have to go to the observatory gate and ask the guard. They acted as if they had no idea we were coming. They didn't have our name, but I had a confirmation email with a room number, so they just gave us the key. You then have to go back up the road and enter a gate to access the building. The AC in the room was hardly an AC. It was set at the lowest temp of 64 and it blew out barely cool air. The room was pretty humid, but luckily they had a dehumidifier in the closet. We ran that for a bit while we soaked in the tiny pool. The online listing says there is free wifi and a coffee shop where you can order food. We saw no coffee shop and could not get wifi. I called and was told there is no wifi or coffee shop with food. He said we had to drive back to town about 20 minutes to get food. Obviously, they need to update their online listing.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Out of all the places I’ve stayed in the last few years this is one of the best. I liked it so much that after staying there several months ago I went back and stay for two more nights this week. This is not a five-star, all inclusive resort, but if you are looking for a comfortable and extremely clean place to stay near nature, but not sleeping with nature, this is the place. The staff that I met were all friendly and extremely helpful. I arrived on a late flight getting to the hotel after 1 o’clock in the morning, the staff made the extra effort to make sure I could check in even at that late hour. I will stay there again. There’s a lot of natural beauty in the area and I want to see more of it.
I enjoyed being surrounded by the lush foliage and the lovely sounds of the birds and coqui frogs were especially enjoyable in the evening.
My room was clean and comfortable; having a toaster oven to heat my dinner was a plus.
The pool was clean and the water temperature was perfect - very refreshing.
The housekeeper, Judy, was extremely kind, helpful and welcoming.
I will definitely return in the near future.
My husband and I stayed two nights at the Arecibo Observatory and really enjoyed the quiet, low key visit. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and overlooked the mountains. If you want a unique place to stay, this is it. Staff was helpful. We brought snacks, breakfast and wine. We had a very nice visit.
Jose and all the staff here were super helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure that my stay was a comfortable and a pleasant experience. my room was more than comfortable with a comfortable bed and all the amenities of a lot more expensive hotels. Including what appears to be a new refrigerator, new toaster, oven, new television, and all the furnishings appear to be new as well. I will stay here again.
Very quiet, clean, private, secure with free breakfast and other meals available on request. A wonderful observatory visit and a good base for exploring nearby towns and natural & historic sites.
It was extremely comfortable and cleaned. If you need a relaxing place this one is perfect for you, no wifi and there was a TV but with no remote. But aside of that, it was nice!
