Cozy Cabin
Our stay in the cozy cabin was a good time of year to go. Very quiet so my wife and I enjoyed our time. A few things that would need an upgrade is the lighting as it needs a little more brighter lights, the Bar B Que grill was not used as I went to grill steaks and the last person before us did not bother to clean was disappointed. The big couch you definitely sink in to it. Overall it was a nice stay.

cozy cabin getaway
This was a great cabin. It was small and cozy yet big enough to enjoy. The decorations of this cabin made you feel right at home. Very clean and stocked well. It has a nice sized patio with a BBQ, table set and some chair. Communication was great quick response. I will definably be retuning to this cabin again for my next trip to the mountains.

Great place near Bear Valley
This cozy cabin provided a great place to stay while hiking near Bear Valley. It was hot but the owner provided many fans to cool off the cabin. We enjoyed using the BBQ and deck for meals.

Cozy Cabin the Snow
Our family of for enjoyed staying at this cozy cabin in the snow. There was just enough snow for our young California kids to play in while we cooked breakfast and got ready for the day. The only reason that we would not stay here again is because the window in the kids room did not have any window treatments so forget sleeping in.

Restful cabin
We enjoyed this cozy and restful cabin. It is setup functionally and decorated nicely. The host quickly responded to all of our questions. The fireplace was easy to use, but we were reminded of needing to provide our own wood. Most things were updated, except we suggest newer pillows especially upstairs. We would enjoy returning to this modern-retreat spot!

Wonderful Cozy Cabin - wish we could have stayed longer!
I stayed with my 2 boys (ages 5 and 7) for 2 nights and we loved this place. Skied at Bear Valley yesterday and there was zero snow on the ground at the Roost but we woke up to almost a foot of snow and it was still coming down as we left! It was so pretty. Definitely need 4WD to get out of the community with snow. Amenities are top notch, and the decor is beyond cute!

Cute cabin vibe
This was a clean and cute cabin that has been remodeled nicely. The owner is very kind and helpful. Perfect getaway in a quiet neighborhood. Has all you need to cook and the bed is pretty comfortable. Hot water came on fast. Super cute deck to relax and drink coffee. All the furniture and decor was nice. The only things we thought should be fixed is the toilet seat was broken. Several lights were burned out and we wished the upstairs was at least a queen not a double bed. Only one person can fit in that.

The Roost is situated in the trees. Beautifully decorated and has a really nice deck. Super quiet location. Rooms are small, so w four people it would be tight. For just the two of us, it was fantastic.

Nice Cabin In The Woods!
We spent 4 days at The Roost Cabin enjoying cross-country winter activities in the surrounding Bear Valley area. The cabin is beautifully situated in a quiet forest landscape and offers a nice getaway in the woods. Our host Marylin was very communicative and quickly responded to all requests. There are a few quirks (TV is located in an awkwardly high position above the mantle, a low-hanging light immediately above the couch which I guarantee you’ll hit with your head, worn and lumpy couch cushions, empty amenities in the bathroom), but overall, The Roost Cabin is a pleasant stay! One note of caution: The driveway is somewhat steep at the beginning and levels off to a flatter parking section roughly 25’ up the driveway. We stayed right after a big snowstorm and the parking section was not completely cleared of snow. As a result, I had to park on the sloped section, but came out later in the evening to find the car had slide all the way down the driveway into the street. We had to clear the parking section by hand, re-parked and had no more parking issues. As a final note, there are quite a few add-on fees (VRBO service, host service, cleaning, damage protection) that seem a bit excessive. These fees equated to almost 2 additional “nights”. To Marylin’s credit, she did work with us to refund a portion of the cleaning fee when we found a baited mouse trap in the bathroom inadvertently left by the cleaning service.

Family Snow Trip
The Roost was an adorable cabin in a quiet neighborhood. My husband and I took our two boys (ages 4 & 7) for snow play. We never had to leave the cabin for anything (except for firewood) as we were able to play in the snow right off the deck and the kitchen was very well stocked for all our meals. I was extremely happy with the cleanliness of the cabin, and I have VERY high standards. The cabin stayed warm and cozy with the wood stove. Sitting out on the deck was just so peaceful and beautiful, I’d love to see it in the summer. I appreciated all the hooks available in the living room, bedrooms and bathroom helped keep our items tidy. There is a little reading book upstairs that is so peaceful and perfect for relaxing. It’s clear a lot of love has been put into The Roost and Marilyn was an excellent communicator. Enjoy!

Don't pass this one up. This cute little cabin in the woods was just what we wanted. It had everything we needed for a perfect getaway plus some fun extras like streaming tv services, items in the pantry, and card and board games. The property manager was very prompt with replying, very friendly and extremely accommodating. We would highly recommend "The Roost" to anyone looking to come to the area.

Perfect for Small Familys
The Roost was a super cozy cabin, perfect for our family of three. Our son had his own loft to sleep and spread out with his toys. The kitchen was well appointed with cookware basics, pantry staples, and glassware. I enjoyed spending time on the deck with a book, listening to the birds and squirrels. Very quiet neighborhood, close to Big Trees and Lake Alpine.

Paradise in Big Tree Country
It goes without saying the property is located in the most beautiful mountain setting Northern America has to offer in California. Our only discomfort was the weather, the dry heat became an issue, especially for the elders in the group. Hospitality and location was above and beyond. Thank you.
