El Salto Compound-Private setting on 3 acres with trees- 3 separate homes

Arroyo Seco - El Salto area - 10 miles to Taos Ski Valley - 2 miles to Arroyo Seco Village and 8 miles to Taos, NM

El Salto Log Compound is one of Premiere's largest properties sleeping 18 guests in 8 bedrooms (includes 2 lofts) and 6.5 bathrooms. The compound boasts 2 hot tubs, 3 kitchens, 3 living rooms, 2 large flat screen TV's and one standard flat screen TV.

The awesome design and architecture of El Salto the log home sends guests home with a most memorable vacation stay and a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience an authentic log home. The Guest Cabin (located next to El Salto Log Home) and Private Cabin (nestled by itself at bottom of tree protected drive) offer efficient separation for large groups wanting to stay "together" with a sense of privacy and togetherness all at once.

The guest house proximity to the log home makes it a perfect separation for children and teens to have their own space to watch big screen TV and play table games for day time and early evening recreation. Two hot tubs means most everyone who wants to soak will find hot tub space at any given time. The luxury of 3 kitchens means that separate families can separately prepare food and convene for group meals. A piano in in place as an added attraction for groups - there is always someone who plays the piano and always many who love to sing along with a piano player.

This Taos cabin, guest house and log home vacation spot is a gem of a find in the Premiere Properties Taos Vacation Rentals inventory. We promise, you will run home and delight friends and family with photos and tales of your Taos lodging experience at El Salto Log Home Compound.

Great place in a great location!
We loved El Salto Compound. It had plenty of space for our group, we loved the architecture, the views and the fairly close proximity to Taos Ski Valley. Denise, the property manager, was easy to communicate with and very helpful when we had questions. We had a great stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: El Salto Compound was perfect for our family reunion. It was spacious enough for both gathering all together and spreading out when folks needed privacy. And the proximity to Taos, Taos Ski Valley, and the cute town of Arroyo Seco can't be beat. I would love to come back!

Family Reunion
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property manager Denise was very responsive to anything we needed. The house is in great shape, has a stunning view, and in a great location - near hiking, skiing, the adorable town of Arroyo Seco, the Gorge, and Taos. We had a family reunion of 11 and also rented Wendy's Caja de Tesoro which is right next door. Very good experience.

A slice of heaven for my birthday!
Just returned from a wonderful stay in Taos. I would highly recommend El Salto for a large group. We had a group of 10 and plenty of room. We convened for meals, cocktails, etc., in the main house. As others have said, there are steps and a sunken LR in the main house, but we strategically placed a chair and end table and had no problems (and we aren't spring chickens). Terra was amazingly responsive to our needs. Also, I have stayed in many rental homes and this one had nearly every pot, pan, utensil, etc., one might want. The view is amazing. Sunsets were perfect. You can't go wrong here!

Amazing Gorgeous Family Cabins
This property was the perfect location for a large, multi family ski vacation. The main house is just gorgeous, beautiful views, warm and cozy. The other two houses decorated so thoughtfully and perfect for multiple families. The hot tubs perfect for after ski muscles. We were a party of 12, the best thing was that the main house had SO much seating and table space for games, hanging out and meals. The kitchen had everything for larger groups. Very clean, and the caretaker was very communicative and helpful for any questions or special needs. Had amazing skiing. Great trip and definitely would stay at this property again. Need 4x4 or all wheel drive if there during winter weather.

The Compound
Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Private place with great views. Hot tub was broken the first two nights. There was barely any firewood and then we were charged 80 dollars for them to deliver wood. Everything else worked and the stay was great.

Annual Family Reunion
Everyone enjoyed staying at this property. We did have to scramble to be able to use a grill because the ones on the back porch would not function. Called the caretaker who allowed us to use one that was in the garage. It was very dirty so we cleaned it. There were 4 empty propane bottles there so we had to go get a new one for our grilling which was one night. The house is beautiful but the stairs were un manageable for our older family so we had to rearrange sleeping arrangements. The group would like to go back again next year.

An Amazing Family Get-away
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Two days away from The El Salto Compound, and I miss it terribly. The houses are all well-stocked and in great shape. The location is lovely and quiet and refreshing. We asked ahead of time to hold a small gathering at the big house, and it was perfect. Lots of inside and outside seating for our stay, every cooking utensil (and spice!) you might need, very comfortable beds, lots of space. We loved drinking coffee on the decks and watching storms and sitting in the hot tub. Everything was perfect.

Beautiful Christmas Family memories
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful Christmas vacation in spite of some inconveniences. Two dish washers did not work was big inconvenience. Also both hot tubs not maintained properly. Then leaking hot water in upstairs sink had to be turned off and not fixed as it was Christmas holidays. This did not stop us from having a fabulous time as the skiing and snowmobiling was so fun and beautiful.Would recommend this place with concerns about updating repairs that are needed.

Liked: Check-in
El Salto Compound
This is a great place for large gatherings located in a quiet and peaceful area outside of Taos. There is a beautiful hiking trail nearby and we enjoyed the villiage of Arroyo Seco. We had a wonderful stay, but there needs to be more attention to detail and having the house properly stocked with cleaning supplies, paper goods, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, etc. We needed to make several inquiries regarding supplies. The property also needs some attention to the upkeep as some window shades were broken, window screens were missing, loose faucets, dishwasher tips forward, outlet didn't work, etc. A list of needed repairs has been sent privately to the owner. For users of the master bedroom in the main lodge, it is beautiful and comfortable, but it is noisy and not private, as it does not have a solid door. As stated by others, the step down into the living room is problematic and could be hazardous to some. We recommend that there be a more thorough user manual for appliances and the workings of the house. While it is a nice place, it would be even nicer with some tender loving care.

Quiet and roomy
Great house and two excellent smaller houses. Plenty of room. Very clean. Nice hottub and good location to the slopes and town. Beds were super comfortable. Couches and tables in main room made for comfort with a big group. Could anything be better? Sure. The things that made us a little nutty were the appliances were not intuitive to use. We are 6 smart guys and we just stood in front of the dish washing machine, then the stovetop and finally figured them out. A how-to guide would be super helpful. The microwave has a sign in it that says” broken, will fix in am” but 4 am’s later still no microwave. Like the sign at the bar that says “free beer tomorrow.” Bad stuff? The driveway was treacherous and super icy. Our suv actually slid backwards 5 feet with the ebrake on. Twice. It was dangerous to walk out the front door to the car. Three of us (sober) also fell off the funky ledge all around the main room but were caught by the sofas. Old people would not be comfortable walking around there with these funky variable height changes in the main room. Hot tub was great. Showers were nice. Good cell phone coverage. Being woken up by coyotes at night is kinda cool too. Beware the main road. Deep muddy ruts. Need 4wd and a little courage on certain days esp at night. Would go again but not with anyone with mobility issues.

The VIEW
THE VIEW🚂💜🚂To be totally honest we absolutely loved all three homes. There were some items that we had to call on but the Caretaker always answered or called back and went out of her way to remedy things that came up. CAUTION : this house is not, I repeat not a place for older or littles. There are so many trip hazards. The living room sets down from the main floor about 6 “ and you walk in to the most gorgeous views so your eyes are immediately drawn up and out as your walking in and you step off that ledge and fall off that step, they also have the furniture moved out from that step all the way around so you can step off anywhere without realizing it. A railing would be a safety feature that would be so helpful. It also really limits accessibility for people - they may have said in the description, I don’t remember seeing it It would benefit greatly to be marked clearer and bolder to prevent falls. This was a Celebration of Life/Love gathering for my husband. . 5 falls happened in the home during our stay. We would Definately choose this again, going in knowing all of this. Hot tub was excellent although more walkway lighting is needed. Beautiful bedrooms and nice bathrooms. Wifi worked really well for all of us. Ages 7yrs to 88 yrs. Couple of people tripped on the steps in the dark. There need to be clear instructions regarding the stove. Could not get it to work till the second day. (There are none available online that we could find)

Welcome Relief from the Texas Heat!
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 16 (8 adults/8 kids) recently spent a week at the El Salto Compound and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our grandchildren range from 7 to 15 years of age, and there was plenty of yard for golf frisbee, playing catch with lacrosse sticks my grandson brought, soaking up the sun, lounging in the hammocks we brought, and numerous games and creative activities that the grandkids thought up to play outside (a delight to see them away from electronics). The hot tub located between the log home and the guest house has a beautiful view of the mountains and is quite roomy. The other hot tub at the cabin (smaller in size) was peaceful and particularly enjoyed by one of our sons-in-law. Arroyo Seco is a short drive where we enjoyed ice cream at the Taos Cow (Be sure to walk to the back of the place to sit at the picnic table.) Our sons-in-law played 2 rounds of golf at the country club in the Taos area, and I took my son and his 2 teenage sons to play golf at Valle Escondido at $25 for 9 holes. You can rent clubs, and while it's a walking-only course, they do rent pull-carts. They don't set up tee times and the morning we went, we were the only ones on the course, so we played another 9 holes after the first nine. As far as shopping, there is plenty of that in Taos. Some stores had unusual hours (for instance, a couple of stores were closed on Wednesdays). Also, very few required a mask to enter. We were disappointed that the toy store we loved when we were here 8 years ago was closed for renovations - it's called Twirl and is well worth checking out when it reopens because of its extensive outdoor play area! As far as the housing, we adults all had a king-sized bed and enough room for everyone to have their own space or all of us to gather in the great room of the log home. Speaking of the living room, it is well furnished, comfy, and has a great view! Many of us enjoyed sitting outside on the covered deck as well. What a great vacation!

Perfect distance from town and skiing. Needs a deep clean!
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had 15 adults and 3 babies stay at El Salto over Christmas week 2014. The location was perfect for our group of skiers and non skiers. It took 15-20 min to get to town and about 25 min to the ski area. The property itself when driving up was beautiful. The caretaker was there finishing up in the smaller cabins and let us enter the main house. The main house was spacious and the master bedroom/bath was a great size. All beds were comfy in the main home. The guest cabin had 2 rooms and a loft. The loft stairs were extremely steep and probably not safe for anyone with bad knees, young kids or even older adults. We had a college kid from our group stay up there. It was a little cramped with 5 adults staying in the cabin especially when it came time to cooking and sitting around. Beds were comfy in the rooms as well. Kitchen lacked several items and was not organized. Towels were not of quality in the bathrooms or kitchen. The private house was perfect for one couple. 2 couples in there would've been cramped. The bed in the room was not comfortable so they preferred to sleep on the queen sofa bed. The jacuzzi outside of the cabin did not look clean so none of the jacuzzis were used. Each person paid $92 a night for couples that was $184. For the price several member of the group were disappointed in the cleanliness of the cabins. There were cobwebs/spiders and dust on fans, ceilings and baseboards. All the cabins ran out of toilet paper. For 1 person to have to be in charge of getting the houses ready for the next incoming group is impossible. It would take a team of people to get this home ready for such large groups. This place has so much potential and is great for large groups. Premiere properties was very helpful in booking this place and worked with us every step of the way. I would book with them but not sure if I'd book the whole property again. Maybe just the main house.

Lots of Room/Great Location/Attention to Detail Needed
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Fifteen family members stayed at this compound for a local wedding. For us, the location was perfect for all the events over three days. We had plenty of room to spread out, to gather together, and to enjoy the outdoors. It should be noted that the loft in the guest house, though very cute, was not suitable for adults or children in our group. The “stairway” leading up to the loft was basically a steep ladder. There was also an opening in that room that overlooked the living room. We didn’t feel comfortable having the 5-year-old in there, and no adult would want to make that climb multiple times each day. There was a dishwasher “glitch” noted in the main house info, but seriously the dishwasher just didn’t work. The microwave had evidently been replaced at some point with a smaller version, and it didn’t fill the space , leaving an insitely gap on the sides. Still, it did work. The main house and the little cabin were much in need of a good cleaning. None of the floors appeared to have been cleaned, cobwebs were abundant, and the pull-out in the small cabin was no usable. When pulled out it was really dirty. Old ear plugs, wrappers, crumbs. We pushed it back in, sanitized the couch, and just had the little one sleep there. We would love to stay in this area again when visiting family, and I'm hoping these issues are resolved in the future.
