"We have never stayed in a more accommodating rental! Everything we needed was provided, and I do mean everything. Kathy and Jim have really thought through every aspect of what a traveler would not only need, but what would be nice extras. The space was super clean, very cozy and inviting; we were tempted to just stay right there for three days enjoying the provisions and the natural beauty of the place. The host and hostess are "people persons" and it was a pleasure to get to know them. They went the extra mile in every way."

"Knotty by Nature was a relaxing getaway cabin for a long weekend in the West Jefferson / Ashe County area. It's just as described on the VRBO website. Plenty of great recommendations for activities and dining. The kitchen is very well equipped for dining is as well. The hot tub was a welcome treat after hiking. About 10 minute drive from town and The Barn on the New River if you're attending a wedding. It is atop a ridge (nice view) via a gravel road but we navigated it just fine. Highly recommended!"

"We had a wonderful getaway with our children and fur baby. The home was absolutely beautiful, clean, and spacious! It has everything you need for cooking and preparing meals. The staff from High Mountain Cabin Rentals are absolutely amazing. Stacey and the office staff are incredibly kind and accommodating. The fire pit area is beautiful and cozy. The river was the absolute BEST! We were unable to go to River Girl as planned so we did it on our own by the river access. There are lawn chairs and a nice picnic area by the river. We went there multiple times a day. Our GSD pup developed a LOVE for swimming! I WILL WARN. I read the reviews about the path to the river access and honestly assumed folks were exaggerating about the difficulty of the path. We learned that they were not exaggerating at all. There are actually two paths. One is right by the bottom deck. It is narrow. Very steep. But in my opinion, a short cut, because it has rope and markers to help guide you. My husband and I along with our 6,8, and 10 year old could take this trail. FIND THE SWING by the rocks overlooking the river. Absolutely beautiful! Because I could not hold my 2 & 3 year old on this trail, we had to take the other path by the hammock. It is wide and open but very strenuous and steep. It wore me out!! But the river was totally worth it. The kids enjoyed the basement area. I enjoyed the laundry room! So helpful for a large family of children. We thank you for your hospitality! "

"House was clean and had everything we needed and more. Would have liked to have a bathroom on the same level as the bedroom but we made do as this was booked at the last minute. Area was quiet and we were able to see wildlife and the northern lights while in the hot tub. Very Nice!"
