We loved our stay in Atrani! Luciana had arranged transport for our luggage from the ferry at Amalfi, so we were met at the ferry dock and taken the few minutes by road to Atrani where Luciana met us at the entrance to the village square and showed us to their lovely apartment. It was more than ample for the needs of the three of us, impeccable and comfortable, with lovely views, a bright outdoor dining area off the kitchen, and a rooftop terrace. There are two large bedrooms, and a separate loft area with what appears to be two sleep sofas; and with three full baths, it can easily accommodate a large family. Regrettably, we were staying only four days which did not allow us time to fully enjoy all these amenities.
This location is ideal for a visit to the Amalfi Coast. Atrani retains the quiet charm of a typical small Italian town, and is immediately adjacent to Amalfi, which can be reached via a short walk through a pedestrian tunnel. As a result, we were able to see and enjoy Amalfi when we wished, and then leave the tourist hustle and bustle behind. It was a perfect base for our visit. We enjoyed our morning coffee and pastry each day at the little pasticceria on the square in Atrani, and and two days took convenient bus transportation from the bus stop just in front in order to visit Ravello, and Vierti sul Mare. On another morning, we walked to Amalfi and after spending the morning there seeing the sights, took the bus to Positano where we spent the afternoon. Each evening we returned to the quiet of Atrani, and dined several times at the wonderful local restaurant, A'Paranza, or prepared dinner in the apartment. We found it to be the ideal arrangement, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone seeking a similar experience.
