An incredibly photogenic spot with bright blue waters and clean, pale sands, this small but popular beach is something quite special.

Even among the many beautiful beaches of Búzios, Praia Azeda, or Azeda Beach, stands out. Make your way to this sliver of white sand and spend a few hours swimming and snorkeling in turquoise waters and relaxing beneath a beach umbrella. In addition to the beautiful setting, the beach also benefits from great facilities and is within easy walking distance of Búzios’ main tourist area. This makes it a practical choice as well as a truly idyllic one.

Make your way here from the Rua das Pedras, the busy hub of tourism in Búzios, located to the south of Azeda Beach. Walk along the coast, enjoying the stunning sea view to your left as you go. Look for some of the town’s most photographed landmarks as you go. These include scenic Mangue Pier, a whimsical statue of three fisherman standing in the sea and a seated statue of iconic film star Brigitte Bardot. Bardot is one of the town’s most famous visitors. As you get closer to the beach, you will need to descend down a beautifully lush, green slope to reach it. This fringe of rich plant life makes the beach feel quite secluded, although it is quite popular.

Bring the whole family when you head to this lovely spot, which has long been a favorite with locals and tourists of all ages. The calm, quiet waters here make this an excellent and safe place to look for marine life, so take snorkeling masks with you too. Be sure to rent an umbrella, as the sun here is strong. Other needs are also taken care of by a variety of vendors. Snack on pizza, corn and other treats throughout the day. Make sure you see at least one sunset here during your time in Búzios, as it is a spectacular sight.

Find Azeda Beach around 20 minutes’ walk to the north of Rua das Pedras. A visit here is a pleasure at any time of the day, but to enjoy the beach at its most tranquil, come on a weekday morning.
