From the first minute we arrived at the hotel everything was great. Julien greeted us at reception and couldn't do enough for us, from insisting on getting our bags to our room (a couple of times and in a nice manner), asking us did we have a dinner booking and then turning up in the bar to ask were we being served, and then providing a map of local walks - fab service.
The room was clean, cosy and comfortable with a great view of the lake. We noticed the toiletries were eco-friendly, were of superior quality and better than any hotel we had stayed in recently,
The restaurant was fantastic - great John the, Prawns and Scallops - what a dish, never mind my starter of prawns in parsley butter sauce and our other starter of 3-ways melon and sorbet. Fantastic all the way and the setting is beautiful too. Jane our waitress was very helpful and capable.
The bar in the hotel is ultra cosy and comfortable and Neil, the owner, was a very amicable attendant while respecting peoples privacy at the same time. One point is the hand-dryers in the bar toilets need updating.
We are already thinking of meeting friends there again as soon as we can - this unassuming hotel from the outside is a gem. Told all my work colleagues, who had all been to the area, but were unaware of the beauty of the hotel inside.
Apart from the hotel there are also beautiful walks within a couple of minutes, to a 6th century hermitage, a National Forest Park others - brilliant for a pre-dinner stroll.
