Harbor Watch, Large Home with Beautiful Harbor View, near Village Center

Convenient location allows you to walk to village shops and restaurants. Harbor views and close to Acadia National Park. Hiking, scenic mountain tops, biking, swimming and kayaking are all close by. There is plenty of room in the home (3000+ sq ft) and a large outside deck that overlooks a working/recreational harbor.

Island Shuttle is free to all villages on Mt. Desert Island (including Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park). Plenty of outdoor recreational options close by, including biking, hiking, kayaking and carriage rides. The island shuttle will transport bicycles as well.

Large dining room with harbor view. Master bed room downstairs four more bedrooms upstairs all with bathrooms ensuite. Perfect for family gathering and reunions. Great for small families to share the house as it is large enough for areas of privacy and common areas for getting together.

This house in on the 'quiet' side of Mt. Desert Island with quick access (~ 30 minutes via public roads or island shuttle) to 'lively' side of island.

Harbor Watch is available for Saturday to Saturday occupancy only. Off season availability may vary only with advance approval of the owners.

Great for large groups
We were there for a family reunion. Fourteen of us stayed at the property, which had plenty of room for everyone, and 7 bathrooms, which was amazing!

Southwest Harbor is the place to stay!
This property was very comfortable for 4 couples. It was nice to be so close to downtown. Southwest Harbor was much easier to navigate compared to Bar Harbor. We loved working with the home owners who were very accommodating. Loved Maine and loved this home as our base!

Maine Vacation
There was plenty of space for our party of 11. Kitchen supplies were excellent. Location was tough with a dog because the main street was so busy with cars and no sidewalks. Had a great family vacation.

Excellent property
The property was very comfortable and even better than we expected. We were seven adults and three children, and everyone in our group from the one year old to the 85 year old found everything that they needed and more. The owners were also extremely welcoming and helpful during the check-in process.

Great place to stay in Southwest Harbor
The house was exactly as advertised. There was plenty of space for the family to relax and enjoy time together! Only a short walk from downtown southwest harbor or a 20-30 minute drive to Acadia and many other attractions. The owners were awesome to work with and easy to contact at any point. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend!

Southwest Harbor, Maine
It was a wonderful experience. The home was extremely nice, rooms and bathrooms for everyone. We had plenty of room to cook in the kitchen. It was wonderful having a washer and dryer. It was an easy walk to town and close to Arcade. The small towns with charm were very close. Our whole family had a wonderful vacation.

Great home close to everything on the quiet side of MDI
Our large group of kids, teens, and adults had a fantastic stay at Harbor Watch in Southwest Harbor. The home is just a couple of blocks from the center of town so we could walk in for lunch, dinner, or just ice cream. It's very close to the island's "quiet side" activities like Echo Lake, Bass Harbor, and Wonderland, and just a 20-30 min drive to Bar Harbor and all of the Acadia NP attractions. The owners were very nice, responsive, and helpful. Great time!

Spacious Home with Picturesque Views of SW Harbor
Harbor Watch was the perfect size for our family of 13, and a great value considering the number of beds and baths, and the amazing views of the harbor. The dining area offered refreshing breezes and beautiful views, was big enough to comfortably accommodate our large group for meals, with enough room left over for a separate puzzle table. We loved assembling on the spacious deck for late afternoon cocktails. The kitchen is well stocked with every possible cooking accroutrement you would ever need - almost to a fault as cupboards and shelves are stocked with dishes and utensils and there isn't a lot of designated area for food storage. Bob and Karen are a pleasure to work with and were extremely responsive to questions, both before and during our visit.

Great for Large Groups
We had four adult couples and three young children. We were able to enjoy each others company without feeling at all over crowded. The house is large enough to let some sleep in or kids nap without the others waking them. My favorite room was the back porch area that seated us all with also a table we used for food buffets. The kitchen, gosh "fully appointed" doesn't do it justice! It had everything. We literally only had to bring personal items which was sooo helpful considering I flew into the area. The owners were very responsive to emails during the whole planning process and very accessible. I appreciated too them not staying in the apartment downstairs, we liked our space. My family is already talking about going back next year! Thank you guys for a memorable family vacation!

Great Week In Southwest Harbor
This year 11 of us gathered in Southwest Harbor for our annual family vacation. We want to thank Bob & Karen for sharing their home with us. Plenty of space, well stocked kitchen & very accommodating. We were there the first week of July. Did need the A/C from Wednesday on. My favorite room of the house was the back porch with the large kitchen table. Plenty of space for eating together. Also spent plenty of time there at night playing games. Very short walk to downtown shops. Showers were somewhat small (6 of our guys over 6 ft) but manageable. Small front yard fenced in. No backyard but nice deck with plenty of seating & gas grill. Bob hooked us up with the lobster man. Bob had all the supplies we needed to have our first lobster boil! Great fun & yummy! Overall, great house, great location (convenient to everything) - just a fantastic week of making more family memories!! Thanks again Bob & Karen - The Coffey’s

Perfect Maine House!
Our group of 11 (age 2-70) stayed here last week and it was great! It was so convenient to have a bathroom in each bedroom. Some previous reviews mention that the showers in the bedrooms are small. While they definitely are if you are taller, they work just fine! There is a larger bathroom with a taller shower/bath in the hall for anyone who needs more room. The kitchen has every dish/utensil/pot/pan that you could ever imagine. My only heads up for people with small children, the dishes are all real porcelain/glass. There are a few larger plastic cups but maybe bring some children’s plates with you if your toddler likes to break real ones. The dining area on the porch is massive and fits everyone comfortably. There is a large laundry room in the basement which was great with so many people and a week of messy outdoor adventures. This was our family’s second time renting this house, and it will absolutely not be our last. If you are looking for a comfortable, spacious, home away from home for your vacation, this is your place!

An Amazing Place for Family to Enjoy Maine!
This was all of our first time to Maine - a family of 14 ages three years to 65! First, I can't say enough about Rob and Karen - they answered my questions beforehand as we wondered where to shop, what COVID restrictions were, etc. They were great! As we drove onto the island, and got closer to Southwest Harbor, we were delighted with the New England charm; the bays, the little shops, the villages. Southwest Harbor is small, but has a few restaurants, several gift shops that were really nice (not junky tourist), coffee shops and an ice cream shop! It is only a block from the house, and when weather permitted the teenagers loved walking into town for a coffee - we felt very comfortable with the safety! The house is not directly on water, but we did not find that to be a problem - we sat outside on the raised porch with tea and watched the tide come in and out. From Florida, we are familiar with tides but these were so dramatic it was amazing! Each of our four grown children and their spouses loved having a quaintly decorated bedroom and private bathroom (and my husband and I enjoyed the Captain's Quarters on the main floor). The teenage girls were ecstatic to take over the trundle beds directly off the kitchen, and close to the snacks! At first we thought we might be a bit crowded, but as it turned out we all felt it was perfectly cozy for the family to be together, and we had no problem in the well stocked kitchen with movable islands preparing meals! Great big washers and dryers in the basement, and more room to spread out but we didn't feel the need. The long tables in the back dining area seated all of us at the same time, and the large windows gave us unobstructed views of the harbor! We ate meals, enjoyed coffee and facetime, and played a lot of family games! We didn't need much when we were there, but the couple of calls we made to the hosts were answered promptly - and they were super friendly! Re: COVID travel - almost everywhere we went masks are not required if fully vaccinated. I would strongly suggest calling ahead before going out to eat, we ran across several places that had closed :( Loved wandering Bar Harbor - the bookstore is the oldest in Maines and delightful, high marks for Geddys for seafood (and all food). Definitely Cadillac Mountain and Thunder Hole; and visit Jordan's Pond for dining on the back lawn with an incredible view!!! Thanks for sharing this terrific place with us - we highly recommend it!

Good location without crowds but still near attractions and restaurants. Good communications with property manager. Comfortable beds. Nice view of the bay from the deck watching the tide go in and out. Plenty of room for 4 couples. Overall a very nice vacation.

A great gathering place!
We had 15 people from 3 states. All enjoyed the rooms offered them, and were very comfortable. Being surrounded by Acadia National Park, all family members enjoyed the adventures of every day. We hiked a lot, ate WELL, and loved being together!

Family reunion
We loved our time at the house — it was perfect for a big group, with a number of bedrooms and individual bathrooms for each, and a large room with a long table for gathering. It was also a short walk into Southwest Harbor, which had cute shops and many great restaurants for seafood lovers! Also an easy drive into Bar Harbor. The house itself had a great view of the harbor, and was well stocked. We greatly enjoyed our week there!

Amazing visit to SWH
Harbor Watch gave us magnificent views from the dining room table. Watching the sun and fog and all the weather was entertaining in its self. Very close to town and easily walkable. There was enough space for 10 of us. It’s a relatively quiet house inside. Kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever had in a rental. Air conditioner units in the 5 bedrooms. Nice for everyone to have a bathroom. The owners were readily available for any questions. The front porch was nice to sit on and the deck and living rooms were additional spaces to spread out as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful experience
The host was very attentive. Made sure all was well with house and gave wonderful suggestions regarding sites to see and hikes. The beauty of Acadia was breathtaking. Loved the little town of Southwest Harbor. Walking distance to shops, coffee and our favorite-ice cream. Loved all the lobster and lobster rolls we seemed to find ourselves eating almost daily.

First time in Maine
This house fit our 13 family members perfectly. We had never been to Maine, so we didn’t know anything about the island. Southwest Harbor is a beautiful area. The location provided us with a restaurant across the street, plus we could walk five minutes down the street for ice cream and additional gift shops. We drove 10 minutes to see the closest lighthouse. Bar Harbor and all the popular Acadia spots are only 30 minutes away This house has an older charm to it. We mostly appreciated having 6.5 bathrooms. Bob was also very helpful with providing us with info when I texted him. Maine left us with many happy memories!
