Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Artwork, sculptures and memorabilia are a real treat. We didn’t eat any meals there, but thins looked and smelled great! Bedroom was beautifully decorated and the bed was huge and super comfy. Only small detractors for us were the reception music plays all day, through till nearly midnight. Which we could hear in our room the whole time. The bathrooms need some work, but the hotel acknowledge this and left a note to say they’re working on it as their next jobs. Which is great. Overall a beautiful place with friendly staff and quirky style.

Liked: Cleanliness
Loved this hotel, very unique, clean and the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time
Whilst we have visited the gardens on several occasions and enjoyed coffee and cake on the terrace this was our first stay and we were not disappointed.
The view from the Velvet Goldmine room was stunning and the room itself was so comfortable.
We chose to have dinner on both nights and sampled the whole 3 course menu which was food heaven accompanied by excellent service. We also enjoyed the breakfast option and this feast at the table is a great concept and a real treat. All produce is locally sourced and a lot of the plant edibles are from the garden itself.
This was a much needed break after a challenging 6 months and a perfect way to recharge the batteries in beautiful North Devon.
All great apart from one thing, couldn't adjust the shower to a comfortable temperature. Way too hot and couldn't get it cooler. Otherwise everything was great, fabulous breakfast, comfy bed, perfectly clean. Highly recommended.
The comfiest bed ever. All the staff lovely. Really enjoyed our stay. However we did have a strong smell from dinner in our room as we were above the kitchen.
Beautiful, friendly, delightful, just gorgeous on every level. Just the potion of food was too small. A continental breakfast could have been included in the price.
Beautiful grounds, quite, peaceful charming. The most comfortable bed in the world. TV was a bit to smart for us...... at first.
The hotel was in a beautiful and unique setting, the room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. We were just sorry that we could only stay one night due to time constraints.
The wooded valley the birdsong and the sculpture park are beautiful, the new rather stark house decor takes some getting used to, but it's luxurious and the staff are lovely nothing is too much trouble.
Beautiful location and unique rooms. Staff are all lovely would highly recommend. Only slight issue is parking signage, we found it difficult to know where to park.
What an amazing place. So glad we found this hotel. Stunning interiors. Bedrooms fabulous and comfortable. The grounds are certainly quirky with all the different sculptures but a lovely walk around the grounds and very enjoyable. We ate dinner and it was fantastic. Beautifully presented, excellent flavours - a real treat.
Pros: comfy rooms, recently refurbished, nice immediate surroundings. Some of the art is lovely (some is hideous).
Of note (but fair enough): very quiet mid-week in March; once there you can’t go anywhere offsite on foot as it’s located on a busy and fast road.
Cons: food was very overpriced for what it was; I was very unhappy to be charged £40 after we had left because they hadn’t realised we’d used the electric vehicle charging point. As we were half full when we arrived and didn’t go anywhere it was probably £4 of electricity we used. So: not eco-friendly - just an excuse for a massive rip off!
