Swim, sunbathe or try new watersports at this lovely shingle beach, located on Croatia’s famous Dalmatian Coast.

Baška Voda Beach is a popular and well-equipped beach destination. Sandwiched between Mount Biokovo and the Adriatic Sea, this scenic pebbly expanse is frequented by sun-seekers and adventurers alike. Relax on the shore, admire the views of the sea and swim or surf in the warm waters.

This beach is the main swimming stretch in the old fishing village of Baška Voda. It has been awarded Blue Flag status for its cleanliness and facilities. Spend an afternoon here basking in the warm Mediterranean sun.

Spread out a towel in the middle of the beach or find shelter from the sun in the shade of the large pine trees toward the back. Between bouts of sunbathing, cool down by wading into the water. As at most of the beaches on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, the water temperatures here are pleasantly warm year-round.

The beach also offers extensive waterports. Rent a surfboard and attempt to ride the gentle waves or try a more exhilarating activity such as waterskiing. Out in the sea, enjoy a new perspective of the beach and the glorious coastline, with the impressive peaks of the Biokovo range towering behind. Rising to 5,781 feet (1,762 metres), Sveti Jure is the highest in the range and the second-highest peak in all of Croatia.

If you want to get some exercise, stroll along the shoreline toward the marina. Here, you’ll be able to watch the boats mooring in the harbour. For travellers looking for adventure, embark on a daytrip from the marina to the nearby islands of Brač

Follow the promenade behind the beach, where you’ll find several cafés, bars and restaurants. Relax and order a drink or sample traditional Dalmatian foods, such as pršut (dry cured ham) and crni rižot (black seafood risotto).

Baška Voda is located 6 miles (10 kilometres) north of Makarska, directly south of Brela and about 37 miles (60 kilometres) from Split. To reach Baška Voda Beach, take a short walk from the town centre. Look for metered on-street parking and off-street parking in the town.
