The main floor features a chef’s kitchen complete with high end appliances, a wine fridge, coffee station, and ample accoutrements to cook anything from a gourmet meal to a steamed lobster dinner. Enjoy your meals in the large dining area or eat while gathered around the oversized kitchen island. Two living rooms bookend the kitchen making for an easy flow as you relax, cook, and dine. Finally, on the main floor there is a bedroom and full bathroom making the home accessible to those with limited mobility.
The second floor boasts the primary bedroom, with a beautiful ensuite where you will find a large soaking tub and walk in shower. There are two additional bedrooms on the second floor, another full bathroom, and a laundry room. The third floor nicknamed ‘the kids quarters’ has two additional bedrooms. In total, there are 6 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, allowing for comfortable accommodations for up to 12 guests. Dogs are also welcome.
Located on a quiet street, the cottage’s backyard allows enough space for kids and dogs to run around safely. There is also a large dog park located within walking distance of the cottage with lovely views of the Kennebec River. In the evenings, wind down by gathering around the outdoor fire pit to roast marshmallows, sing songs, and star gaze.
City of Bath: Bath is a beautiful, quintessential New England town located along the banks of the Kennebec River. Deemed a 'distinctive destination' by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the downtown is lined with historic brick and granite buildings that showcase locally owned restaurants, bakeries, bars, and shops. Simply walking around the quiet, cozy side streets to admire the 100-200 year old homes that have been fully restored, is a wonderful activity. Or if you’d prefer, take the beloved trolley, named Charlie, to see the sights around town.
Bath is also home to the world class shipbuilder, Bath Iron Works, a working shipyard established in 1826. We encourage visitors to check out the Maine Maritime Museum to learn about the rich history of shipbuilding in the area (the museum is just a 10-minute walk from the cottage!).
Things to do in the area: Bath is the gateway to Midcoast Maine - the most glorious part of Maine in our humble opinion. The cottage is located only 25-minutes from two epic beaches: Popham Beach State Park and Reid State Park. A day at either beach with a picnic lunch, pails for collecting seashells, and a good book will not disappoint. Looking for a fun day trip? Head further east into the heart of the Midcoast region to explore quintessential coastal towns like Wiscasset (15 minutes), Boothbay Harbor (45 minutes), Camden and Rockport (both 1 hour). Head south to explore Freeport (20 minutes and home to L.L. Bean) or the City of Portland (45 minutes). Bowdoin College is in the neighboring town of Brunswick (15 minutes away).
Lone Pine Cottage is also well situated to explore many nature preserves and hiking trails and is close to multiple marinas, where you can charter a boat to go fishing on the Kennebec River or Casco Bay. Looking for a different kind of adventure? The Maine Beer Trail is a fun way to see the state and with over 170 breweries, many within a short drive of Bath, there’s lots to see and taste!
A complete guidebook will be provided at the time of booking with many suggestions for day trips, restaurants, and activities in the area. Looking for a specific activity? Just ask! We are happy to help you plan your time in Maine.
Accessibility: There are no stairs to get into the home or on the main floor. The hallway between the kitchen and bathroom is narrow and may not be suitable for a wheelchair, but is wide enough for a walker. There is a first floor bedroom and bathroom.
Parking: There is free, off-street parking for four (4) cars.
Dogs: Dogs allowed upon owner's approval. No dogs exceeding 60lbs. Guests must adhere to local leash laws. Dogs must be at least 1 year old with proof of up to date vaccinations.
