Named after the most famous conflict on English soil, this compact market town grew up alongside the battleground, tranquil medieval abbey and surrounding ancient woodlands and is largely unchanged to this day.
At Battle’s beating heart is a bustling mix of independent shops and businesses.
The northern end of the High Street is the Almonry, originally built in 1090, which houses the Battle Museum of Local History. Here you’ll find the world’s oldest Guy Fawkes – or at least his head, which is made of pear wood, and his silk cloak. Thought to be more than 200 years old, he is still in active service and leads the Battle Bonfire Boyes on their fiery procession through the town each November.
At the southern end is Battle Abbey, and behind it the once-bloody battlefield, now a peaceful meadow filled with wild flowers and birdsong. Here you can stand at the very spot where King Harold is said to have died.

Battle train station is about a 15min walk to the apartment

The property is located on Battle High Street and as parking is restricted in this area we recommend using mount street car park which costs £6.40 for 23 hours.

Beautiful Battle
The property location is great for the town. The car park is close by and as long as you have the app, it is easy to renew each day. The apartment is cute and has all that you need in it. The town has great restaurants. The only downside for me personally as a light sleeper is that the high street is very busy and noisy with traffic which surprised me for a small town. Couldn't have the window open in the heat so a fan or aircon unit would be useful to get around this. Thanks again.

Lovely apartment!
Had a great 3 night stay here! Lovely location, with great view of Battle Abbey Gateway. The flat was cold on arrival, with no clear indication as to how to heat it, and it took us several hours of fiddling with the boiler controls before noticing where the thermostat was! Unfortunately the heating is quite ineffective in the top floor bedroom . Apart from that (and the provision of only one key, meaning I found myself locked in while my husband was out walking!) we had a very enjoyable stay. If we were in Battle again, I wouldn’t hesitate to book this lovely property.
