Staying at the Hotel Marie Celeste

I arrived at 7.30 pm after a long drive from the South of France to find the hotel locked up with nobody there at all. The bar and restaurant were both closed as well. There was a handwritten note on the door giving a telephone number. I phoned and was told that there was a side door and I was given a digicode to gain entry and a room number for me. The room had a key in the door and I was the sole occupant of the hotel. The room was a good size and felt warm. On closer inspection, the room was rather dirty with cobwebs in all corners of the room and bathroom. The decor was shabby and the bed coverlet was stained. I was apprehensive about looking underneath the cover, but the sheets were clean cotton and the bed though soft was comfortable. Having looked around the village and finding nowhere open to get anything to eat, I retired to my room at 9.00pm and thought I would watch a bit of TV before going to bed. Unfortunately, the TV did not work as it was not receiving a signal. There were no instructions to help me to get it going, so I went to bed. I slept well showered in the dingy bathroom and left to go to Calais for my ferry to the UK. I often do this overnight stop on my way to and fro France and like to use different hotels every time. I have never stayed here before and will not stay again.

Hôtel très accueillant

Hôtel très accueillant, les propriétaires sont très disponibles et sympathiques. La chambre était confortable et spacieuse et le petit déjeuner copieux. Petits bémols, il est à côté d'une route très passante, il y avait une fenêtre que l'on ne pouvait pas ouvrir, la salle de bain toilettes donne directement sur les voisins d'en face et celle-ci n'est pas cathédrale, il faut donc mettre le rideau opaque et cela oblige la journée d'allumer la lumière.

Déçue

Accueil sympathique. Parking et Wi-Fi gratuit appréciés.Petit déjeuner correct et bon. En revanche, confort de la chambre spartiate ( literie inconfortable, lampe de chevet qui ne marchent pas, très peu de chaînes TV). Propreté à revoir ( lavabo sale, WC sale, sol pas très propre, tâche sur le couvre lit, ...) Ne donne pas envie d'y retourner.

Dans l'ensemble ce n'est pas trop mal pour un bar

Point négatif: L'église très proche. Télévision très peu de chaînes Positif : personnel accueillante et à l'écoute . Le petit déjeuner , on peut demander à avoir plus. Belle décoration avec des tableaux dans les couloirs

Smart but...

The Hotel has been smartened up and is in good general condition. The staff are great and very friendly and keen to please. I had an issue with a shower in my room and was moved into a double with no issue. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The shower facilities could do with being changed back to how they would have been prior to the refit, however, they were clean.

A fuir !!!

Je n'ai pas l'habitude de critiquer mais là, il y a de quoi... A part la sympathie du patron, tout est à déplorer !!! Le beurre périmé de 20 jours au petit-déjeuner. La chambre où je n'ai pratiquement pas dormi. Aucune insonorisation ni intérieur, ni extérieur. J'entendais les voisins de chambre parler et je comprenais chacun de leur mot, la lumière du couloir éclairant la chambre, même la lumière des phares des voitures à travers les rideaux. Le matelas digne des années 60, du rafistolage au fil de fer pour tenir les tuyaux et des morceaux de planche pour en cacher une partie !!! Etc... etc... etc... Comme dit le proverbe. "On en a pour son argent".
