We regularly spend about a week at Christmas at a rental at Sun River. Our needs have evolved as our grand children have aged and the oldest
(18) has desired a space of his own while the others 12 - 15 (two boys and a girl) convert the bunk room into a cave of blankets and pillows. This house had everything we wanted and the weather provided a gorgeous white Christmas with several inches of fresh snow. The floors, counters, bath rooms, kitchen are all top drawer with plenty of cookery for our group. The owner had provided (or previous renters left) ample basics of salt, pepper, flour, sugar, coffee filters.
My wife and I had the master suite on the first level where there was also a full bath for the convenience of everyone. Our two daughters and there spouses had en suite bathrooms upstairs (one connected to the fifth bedroom). The bunk room was immediately converted into a cave with extra blankets and pillow by the younger kids.
The public spaces were large and open: a loft upstairs with flat screen TV and Wii. A downstairs family area adjacent to the kitchen and with its own fireplace also had a large screen flat panel TV. An unusually large library of DVDs was tempting enough to distract the kids from their smart phones, texting, and games, but the many board games were never investigated. The garage had a ping pong table for the competitors among us.
The house is easier to find than a lot of Sun RIver properties and faces a golf course for snow shoeing. It is close to the north entrance store and station.
Eating out with this crowd is much harder than sharing cooking responsibilities and eating in so we have no recommendations on restaurants where the quality changes from year to year based on the longevity of the staff.
The only criticisms - our arrival was a little dicey because instructions about entering the house were not clear and if the thermostat was part of the SAT test, none of us would have gone to college. I guess you have to be willing to spend the time to figure it out. We did, but not until spending three nights hot or with the furnace off and extra blankets. Simple instructions would be helpful.
The young lady who served as the contact was very pleasant and responsive, but a few procedural issues could be improved. We would definitely rent this home again and recommend it to our friends who are looking for this level of quality.
