Good location in Bernkastel, but missed the mark.
Don’t take my rankings for this hotel meaning it is bad. But we have been in Germany for over two weeks and have stayed at 6 other hotels, and this was the one that just didn’t meet the same standards. It is in a great area and the room was pretty clean, but they do need a good amount of maintenance. The coat rack fell out of the wall, there was a missing magnifying mirror in the bathroom (just a post coming out of the wall with nothing attached). I was hoping for better for the price and the area. The breakfast was good, but we had dinner at the restaurant and that was mediocre at best. Some of it looked to be a possible short staffed issue.
Great hotel with the friendliest staff. The location is absolutely perfect with all the shops, restaurants, and walking distance to the castle. Breakfast had everything we could want and more. We chose the romantic room which had an awesome tub and cool vibe. Would definitely recommend this hotel especially if it's your first time in the area. It's just really easy to get around with the comfort of having a nice relaxing atmosphere at the end of the day.
It was unusually warm, so we missed having air conditioning. Trauma de Naight room was spacious enough. Breakfast included was plenty. Location was very good - away from the bulk of the tourist foot traffic but only s block or so from the market square. Several very good restaurants very close.

Well Located and Comfotrtable Hotel
Very well located in the middle of the town. Parking was difficult to find but once located is well placed for the hotel. The room was quirky and not really as good as the rating indicates. The restaurant menu was limited and we chose not to eat in the hotel as there are many restaurants nearby. It was however well supported so if you like the menu the quality is almost certainly very good.
Don't eat in the restaurant! The room was good - the waiter just a bit pushy. And we paid more for less.

Fairy-tale rooms in fairy-tale town
Fairy-tale, olde world hotel situated in the heart of the delightful town of Bernkastel. Arrival by car not easy on restricted cobbled streets with individual designated parking spaces scattered around the vicinity. Limited information provided, particularly regarding meals, so didn't use restaurant. Rooms are fairy-tale themed (we had the frog prince!) with good facilities though no fridge or coffee-making.
A very nice hotel right in the centre of the old town in easy walking distance from everything. The only negative points were no lift to the upper floor (not a problem for us but could be for others) and the parking was some way off and very tight.
The Christmas market was fun with lots of good eating and drinking
We were properly, kindly and efficiently greeted, and our luggage was carried up the tw flights of stairs to out room, the Snow White room. Nice bed, good heating, proper windows opening onto a pretty street. Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfasts, just a nice place to take a break. We will go back.
Stayed here whilst visiting beautiful Bernkastel. Wonderful old fashioned German hotel with a "fairytale theme". Good continental breakfast although the small jars of pickled fish left to delight you at the breakfast table seemed more the stuff of nightmares. Would gladly return.
The staff was very friendly and helped carry our bags to the room. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices and was good. The hotel is located in the center of town. The parking was a bit of a walk from the hotel and difficult to find. The mirror in the bathroom is hung too high so I was not able to use it when getting ready in the morning.
After two nights at the Maerchen Hotel we decided to extend one night, and they were very accommodating. We stayed in two different rooms--both with very different arrangements and decor--decidedly charming.. The fairy tail theme was used throughout--but was discreet and not over the top. We ate all three nights in the hotel--all great meals. The personalized service by the helpful, bilingual staff was very nice..
This is an eccentric place. The food is excellent. The prices are relatively high. The fairy tale stuff is a bit over-done. Some service was very good some was downright dismissive.
Veldig lytt. Veldig turistifisert. Avbrøt oppholdet etter en natt.
