"We loved the stay here at the Writer’s Retreat which was only a short distance from a wedding venue (Dundee Golf and Country Club). It is pet friendly and our dog Charlie felt right at home plus it was great to have a nice safe path to walk Charlie to the lakeshore where we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the salt water lake. Sandy and John are excellent hosts. "

Having spent my summers on the Bras d’Or lake as a child I knew what I was getting with regards to lake (it is clear, warmer than the ocean, salt water —perfect to me!), but this was my first stay at Lakeside Luxury. I booked the cottage which was a great option for privacy, the screened porch was perfect for the mornings and evenings to get away from bugs. "Nice log cottage sitting on Diana Mountain with a nice view of Bras d’Or Lake. The night skys are fantastic. The cottage is secluded. It is about a 35 minute drive to the nearest store of any kind so if you want to get away from everything it is perfect. Stock up before you go. The cottage has high speed internet and good cell phone reception to keep you in touch with the outside world. If you are planning on taking in a lot of the sights of Cape Breton Island then plan on a lot of driving."
