Friendly helpful staff, adequate parking and a well stocked bar were probably the best features for us. The price of the stay was reasonable so this needs to be taken into account when reading the comments below:
Some of the rooms are rather gloomy. After initially being accommodated in a room with no windows and only two grubby skylights, we were moved to the "accessible" room. Seriously, I fear for people with disabilities hoping to stay there. The heating control was almost impossible to reach. Although the bathroom is large and classed as a wet room, there was little practical space for our toiletries other than the floor! The worst thing was the hand basin. Naturally it was located in a low position, but the flow of water was impossible to control, particularly when trying to change the temperature. Water sprayed everywhere! And there was no plug in that basin so could not just fill it and then use the water to wash with.
Poor access to the room with inadequate lighting outside- again bad for a disabled person.
Small niggles that are not accounted for by the reasonable price:
- some light bulbs needed to be replaced but weren't - even though we asked twice.
- the TV channels were hopelessly out of date and of course could not be updated through the usual menu.
One aspect we would congratulate David and his staff on was the special 40s night which included a very competent and talented female singing duo and the food although simple, was at least nice and hot.
