Blue Mountain Beach is an exclusive coastal escape for overnight guests of the Blue Mountain Ski Resort. This private beach sits on the southern shores of Lake Huron’s Georgian Bay. Enjoy relaxation and lots of water-based activities.
Blue Mountain Beach is a small bay of soft golden sand backed by forested hills. The water is calm and shallow making it ideal for visitors with young children, although there are no lifeguards. Find amenities such as changing rooms, showers, cafés and beach bars. Sun loungers and children’s beach toys are available free of charge. Umbrellas can be rented.
For the active beachgoer, Blue Mountain Beach offers a wealth of water and sand-based sports. Travel through the lake on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Try high-adrenalin watersports on weekends and during school holidays. These include waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Children will enjoy piloting remote control boats along the shoreline.
Out of the water, play boules, croquet, soccer and volleyball. Venture away from the beach to explore the local scenery with a hike along the Georgian Trail. This 21-mile (34-kilometre) long route stretches between the nearby towns of Meaford and Collingwood. The trail is also popular with cyclists and joggers. Bikes are available for rent at the beach. Stop off at some of the sandy beaches that are spread around Georgian Bay. These include Christie Beach, Northwinds Beach and Peasemarsh. If you are in the area during winter, go cross-country skiing along the trail.
Blue Mountain Beach is an alcohol, smoking, barbecue and pet free beach. It is open during the summer, usually between June and September. Find up-to-date information about operating hours on the official website of the Blue Mountain Ski Resort.
Blue Mountain Beach is about a 10-minute drive from the Blue Mountain Ski Resort and car parking is free. Alternatively, take the complimentary shuttle bus that runs between the ski resort and the beach.
