Pick from Broadway musicals, dance performances, comedy events and music concerts at Charlotte’s premier destination for the performing arts.

The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is a multifunctional complex that includes six individual theaters and an auditorium. Catch a blockbuster production at the large Belk Theater or watch an intimate recital at the Booth Playhouse. The theaters came together under the Blumenthal mantle in the 1990s and the complex is home to some of the city’s most significant performing arts companies. Watch local performers playing to a home crowd or check out the ever-changing range of interstate and international acts.

Make the most of the wide array of entertainment offered within the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s three conjoined venues. The Belk Theater is Blumenthal’s largest venue. Experience this 2,118-seat theater’s state-of-the-art facilities when you attend a production. Adjacent to the Belk Theater is the Booth Playhouse and the Stage Door Theater. These two intimate venues host dance and music performances, workshops and seminars. The Knight Theater is situated within the Levine Center for the Arts, which is a short distance away from the Belk Theater.

Check out what’s on at the Spirit Square complex, which is managed by the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Admire Spirit Square’s magnificent early 1900s architecture as you walk through the grand double doors. At this location, you’ll find the McGlohon Theater and the Duke Energy Theater. Blumenthal also presents a variety of shows at a seventh location, the Ovens Auditorium.

See a performance by one of the center’s resident companies, including the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Charlotte Ballet and Opera Carolina. The Community School of the Arts is another institution that regularly presents productions at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

Book ahead for a tour of the center and find out what goes on behind the scenes. Tours are free and available for groups of 10 or more. Enjoy a pre-show meal or discuss the performance over a drink afterward at one of the excellent bars and restaurants located within walking distance from the complex.

The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is located in Uptown Charlotte and is easy to reach by train. Parking lots are available in the adjacent blocks. Book your tickets at the center’s box office, by telephone or online.
