Staff were so friendly and kind. They were simply amazing. The food was really top notch. The fried shrimp was excellent on the appetizer menu. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. The rooms were spotless. The windows are screened but no glass, so you can hear the birds, monkeys and the ocean. Modern conveniences in a super relaxed environment. The grounds are immaculate, they take great care of the flora and there are many hummingbirds and butterflies. The beach is beautiful, but the waves were too rough for swimming this time of year. Try the Chinese food next door at the Playa, Stephanie and her staff were also excellent. The only downside was that we could not stay longer.

Wonderful spot!

Betsy and Gary made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them. The property is beautiful and just across the road from the beach which we had nearly to ourselves.The hammocks were also a nice place to hang out. Breakfast was nicely done and served to the table. A great place to stay for quiet and relaxation!

Betsy and gary run an incredible hotel with stunning surroundings and excellent staff. They provided anything we needed. Great food for breakfast and dinner, a beautiful property to see all kinds of flora and animals, Including monkeys. They also were able to arrange transportation for us when our flight changed last minute. Couldnt recommend this place enough. Beautiful and comfortable.

Betsy & Gary were the best hosts! They took pride and explained everything from day one at their jungle oasis. The rooms are jungle treehouses with howling monkeys, birds, and the sea crashing in. Highly recommended – great location on the beach; a few mins drive from town but a real ‘off-the-grid’ vibe from those looking for peace & quiet. Room was good; lack of AC was not an issue for sleeping as it was cool at night (might be more of a concern if you were planning to spend time in the room during the day, but why would you in such a beautiful location?). Nice pool and pretty quiet the whole time we were there as there are only a few rooms/guests. Food for lunch & dinner was very good; if we had one niggle it would be the breakfast which was pretty basic and not geared up for vegetarians (one of us is vegetarian and was initially just offered toast for breakfast one morning). Olivia the manager was fantastically helpful when we had issues with a cancelled flight and were being given the run-around by the airline.

Lovely place

Stayed in the one of the semi-detached bungalows. Very comfortable with an amazing view. Pool was lovely. Loads of Hummingbirds around so it warrants the name! The food in the restaurant was ok but not very memorable but there are 2 alternative options within walking distance - we only tried one which was much better. There's just one option for breakfast which did change every day. As there are no windows you and your neighbours can hear everything. Unfortunately we had a very loud couple next to us who kept on talking loudly every day and also till very late in the night. In the end we had to tell them to be quiet which worked only up to a certain level.

Excellent place to stay

We were a group of friends staying for 4 nights and we absolutely loved this place. Betsy and team were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner) and great cocktails! The rooms are amazing - never slept so well.

I had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Hummingbird. I stayed in one of the bungalows, which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Betsy and Gary were very welcoming and made sure all my needs were met and exceeded. They arranged all my transportation as well as a boat tour around the islands. They were also very accommodating to my vegetarian diet at the restaurant. The food was delicious as were the drinks! I only wish I had stayed longer! Wonderful trip!

Wonderful place

Awesome. Incredible hosts and staff. Originally we were going to stay 5 days and move on but decided to stay another 5. We woke each morning to howler monkeys and wild parrots greeting the day. Food is great and the service friendly and attentive. We will be coming back. Place is off the grid but you really couldn’t tell other than no AC but the rooms have fans and we had no problem sleeping. Highly recommend Hummingbird

Great hosts in PARADISE!

The fact that this review is being written that far after our stay should tell you all you need to know about this stunning property and location. The memories and experience will last a lifetime. And don't let the logistics of getting there stand in your way. The trip is soooooo worth it! Gary and Betsy are the best hosts my wife and I have ever experienced and are there to accommodate the guests with anything they could ever need. The property and surrounding garden is its own little paradise. And the beach is STEPS away! Just make the trip and enjoy.

Oase im Garten Eden

Das kleine, feine Hotel liegt am schönen Bluff Beach und ist in den angrenzenden Dschungel eingebettet. Die geschmackvoll eingerichteten Doppelbungalows liegen inmitten tropischer Blumen und auf der Terrasse sind häufig Kolibris zu sehen. Die Terrassentür lässt sich über die komplette Breite öffnen, so dass man das Gefühl hat, mitten im Dschungel zu schlafen. Das Restaurant bietet leckere Gerichte, ist allerdings am Wochenende geschlossen. Gutes reichhaltiges Frühstück gibt es täglich und ist im Zimmerpreis enthalten. Host Gerry ist der Tierflüsterer und hat uns Faultiere, Affen und seltene Frösche gezeigt, Betty bereitet hervorragende Cocktails und Speisen. Ein super Angelausflug wurde für uns organisiert. Der lange Sandstrand eignet sich hervorragend für Spaziergänge zum Schwimmen nur bei wenig Wellen. Wichtig zu wissen: Das Meer ist nur wenige Schritte von der Anlage entfernt, aber es gibt kein echten Seaview vom Zimmer, Pool oder Restaurant-man hört es rauschen, sieht aber nur eine kleine Ecke Blau - hat uns am Anfang etwas enttäuscht, später haben wir die Flora und Fauna genossen.

The Hummingbird was by far the best place that we have ever been been to. The accommodations were fantastic! The hosts, Gary and Betsy, took care of everything for us during our stay. The food was out of this world! Highest recommendation!
