Beautiful site but terrible accommodations
The property is run down, it had an awful odor in the cabin which I believed is coming from the old rugs on the floor. Curtains were falling off the windows and the shades were filthy. We could not lock any of the bedroom doors for privacy due to the broken locks and the windows could not open. They had fans in the rooms that had caked on dust. Paint was coming off the uneven floors. When it rained hard they were leaks throughout the house. I was awoken from my sleep due to water coming through the roof and falling on the bed l was sleeping on. Some of my personal belongings got wet along with my notes and textbooks. The furniture on the back deck was old, and falling apart we were afraid to sit on it. The canoes in the yard was dirty. The only thing that was positive was the view and the fishing.

What a lake house should be
My perfect ideal of a summer lake cottage. Old, camp-like, great front porch, the perfect spot on the lake.

Front Porch Relaxation
The front porch was super relaxing and the view of the lake was amazing. The cottage takes you back in time and you could You could feel the history of good times gone bye. It was a joy to add to those good times. We will be back again.

Beautiful and charming
The house is a charming rustic lakehouse, very clean and well-stocked. The view from the deck is gorgeous and we had fun fishing off the docks or out of the rowboat. My extended NYC family has been spending part of each summer in this area, where my grandfather was born and where we still have family, for 50 years, so it was great to find this awesome property so close to the action.
There wee a few inaccuracies in the description--although the website advertises a working fireplace (which we wouldn't have wanted during a heatwave anyway) and diving off the dock, the information binder at the property prohibited both. Also, the grill wasn't working but I never contacted the owner to give him a chance to address the issue, we just worked around it.
The biggest problem was the lack of AC, which had not been included in the description and which I never asked about--it never occurred to me that I might need AC in Vermont in August but in this time of climate change I will never make that mistake again. I was not the owner's fault but my oversight.

Pleasant Vacation
Charming rustic cottage not short on views and sunsets. Docks need upgrading if you're bringing a boat. We decided after 1 day, it wouldn't work out to have our boat there, but it held our jet ski just fine. No sunset cruises as anticipated, but the kids had a blast during the day on the jet ski. We would recommend this cottage and would rent it again.

So relaxing!
This place was wonderful! It was quaint, charming and full of character. We lived on the porch overlooking the lake. MY children were in the canoe and our kayak within a half hour of our arrival. We had a week long competition on how many fish one could catch,,, the record was 26. It was a place to let go of the world. It is within two hours of Stowe and Waterbury (Ben and Jerry's and shopping) and we spent a full day at Killington at their adventure park (45 minutes away). The only draw back was the oven. It didn't work but that gave the excuse to eat out at night and not cook. Overall, we had so much fun!
