Borås
Between the zoo and the adventure park, there is no end to the fun for families visiting this Swedish city, which is also very artistic.

Located just inland from Gothenburg, Borås attracts thousands of Swedish and international vacationers each year. No wonder, because it’s a fun and creative city, with awe-inspiring street art covering whole buildings and plenty of indoor and outdoor family attractions to discover.

Borås has a long and proud textile history and Swedish couture is still a major industry here today. Visit the Textilmuseet and the Textile Fashion Center to learn all about the early days of weaving and contemporary methods, materials and designs.

If you want to learn more, visit the Borås Museum in Ramna Park, which is also home to a 17th-century church, the Ramnakyrkan, and a cool summer café.

Borås is known as a creative hub and one of its coolest events is the No Limit Street Art festival, which first took place in 2014. As the name suggests, the artists were given a “free pass” and didn’t have to submit their entries in advance. The resulting artworks are abstract and life-like, colorful and moody, simple and mind-boggling. Walk around to discover giant murals on the sides of tall apartment blocks and offices, but also tiny hidden ones on ground level.

Explore more of Borås’ creative side at the permanent indoor art hubs in town, such as the Borås Museum of Modern Art, Culture House in the City Library, Wärenstams and the Abecita Art Museum.

Take the family to the central Borås Djurpark (Zoo) to meet the city’s cute, scary and amazing residents. The spacious animal enclosures have been designed to resemble the original habitat of each species and make any zoo visit feel a bit like a wildlife safari.

The city’s Navet Science Center is fun for older kids. The Upzone Adventure Park is positively thrilling to visit and it’s easy to get to the Liseberg Amusement Park from Borås as well.
