Víðines is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsnes National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and the Ice tunnel in the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall.

In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in Víðines and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day. The house has an open kitchen-living room with a large kitchen island. It is very spacious and ideal for family and friends preparing a good meal together. The kitchen has all necessary tableware and high quality equipment for cooking and baking. The living room has floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view. Even if you are inside it feels like you are still completely connected to nature. The bathroom is spacious with a large countertop, a large shower room and a warm towel rack. The house has all latest equipment; FREE WIFI, large flat screen TV, dishwasher, washing machine and everything between. See detailed facility and equipment below. The guest house has a double bed and a bathroom with a towel rack. Beside the guest house is an outside shower, perfect to use before entering the hot tub.

The design of the house is outstanding and well thought out. It has floor to ceiling windows, open space, hardwood floor, natural stone tiles, designed lighting and with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly floor heating systems installed in houses today. The heating system is perfect and we can guarantee you a warm and cozy house in the winter time. The house is designed by one of our greatest architects, Guðfinna Thordarson, that has also designed many other modern houses in Iceland.

On the large patio surrounding the house is a nice hot tub that fits up to 7 people, outdoor shower, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The patio is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don´t hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Property was spectacular - views, location and home were the best! We were off the beaten path by design to view Northern Lights without light conjestion. We had incredible sightings!! Absolutely beautiful location
We stayed here upon our arrival to Iceland. The home was very comfortable for our group of 8. My parents enjoyed having their our space in the guesthouse. My kids loved the outdoor shower and hot tub. The scenery was lovely with the stream beyond the house. We walked to Glanni waterfall from the house and Grabarok crater was around 2.5 miles away. We would definitely stay here again.

What a view !!
The house is amazing overall, with everything you might need, including lots of towels, card games, and a wood burning stove. The view off the back porch of the nearby river and mountains was incredible, and with Gianni Falls just a short walk away. It could use a second indoor shower, but otherwise we loved it and would stay again.

Great winter getaway
Wonderful home away from it all. Thorough instructions - just needed a bit of help operating stove and struggled with many light switches which we couldn’t quite figure out how to get total darkness! Wonderful spot - make sure you have 4WD in winter as any significant snowfall might leave you stuck for days - not that that would be all that bad!!

Luxury in the Lava Field
Cannot say enough about this place. Owners really have made a beautiful and peaceful home away from home. Very clean, super comfortable beds, great kitchen space in open living area. Views of dramatic scenery at every turn. Appreciated the blackout curtains in bedrooms and the hot tub was awesome especially after a long day of hiking. Lots of towels and wash clothes and the outdoor shower was a bonus!! Great place to explore western Iceland. My family really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave such a lovely place.

Beautiful house, great location, perfect for visiting Iceland!
My family and I spent a week in Iceland and absolutely loved it. The house was extremely clean, modern and had ample space to relax after a long day of sightseeing. My kids especially liked all of the "tech" hookups...iHome, Bose speakers, etc. Our hosts provided us with a great list of attractions near by...these gorgeous waterfalls are within walking distance! We truly enjoyed staying at this house and wish we could have stayed in Iceland longer. Thank you to our wonderful hosts...your home is beautiful!

All we wanted and more
This was an excellent location for our adult family of 8 (4 couples) to relax and enjoy each other’s company between amazing excursions. The location provides convenient access to Reykjavik, parts of the Golden Circle and Western Iceland. We had plenty of space and the amenities were great! Lots of towels, a well stocked kitchen, fireplace, big windows everywhere, and fantastic outdoor living space including a hot tub that was used daily. Communication with the hosts was excellent and the surroundings were amazing. There is a beautiful waterfall just minutes walk away, springs burbling up out of the ground, a volcanic crater and more. Highly recommend.

Perfect, warm, private, accessible, comfortable, central to West Iceland, everything we needed!
My wife and I (76 and 77) stayed here for 7 nights, The accommodation was lovely, bed comfortable, kitchen provisions excellent, nice hot tub (though we only used it twice), DVDs easy to watch on large screen. It has one bathroom but a small guesthouse with another bath. Only one mile from Glanni Falls. This facility is in the center of West Iceland and enabled us to make day trips in several different directions to see things like the Golden Circle, Reykjavik, and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. In all, it helped make our trip outstanding. We highly recommend this facility!

This house exceeded our expectations! It is beautiful, modern, clean and cozy. My husband and I stayed here in January. The kitchen is well stocked and comfortable. The open floor plan with a wood burning stove adds to the modern charm. The floor heat kept the temperature in the house very comfortable. We loved the outdoor hot tub where we were able to see the northern lights. The washer and dryer allowed us to pack more lightly. The owners were the most gracious hosts we have encountered through VRBO and responded to questions very quickly. You won’t regret booking this home.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home. It was absolutely perfect for our family. Our three boys enjoyed the hot tub and the hikes behind your house to see the Glanni waterfall. Your house was immaculate and so comfortable for us. It was conveniently located to Reykjavik and the Golden Circle too. We loved driving the whole Snæfellsnes peninsula and found it to be just beautiful! Thank you for your suggestions of the nearby restaurants, hiking trails as well as nearby attractions. Perfect location to explore the west
First of all, I would like to thank Heidi for all of the great recommendations and super fast responses all of my questions. It really helped and was greatly appreciated. My husband and I just spent the past 11 nights in this wonderful house. We were very comfortable and it was a great base for us to explore west Iceland. We were looking for somewhere to enjoy peace and quiet and we definitely found the right place. Several nights we were able to take photos of the Northern Lights over the lava fields from the deck. The hot pot was a perfect place to relax and watch the stars. If you are in this area I definitely recommend this house or one of the others rented by Heidi and Rob. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful property
This was a great house to use as a base for our week long Icenlandic adventure for our family of 5 adults. The directions are very easy to follow to get into the house as well as the directions for the appliances, hot tub, etc. If you are traveling from the US, note that you have to use the county code of 35 to operate the gate but it does work with "wi-fi" calling. The property is in a very quiet area and we enjoyed using the outdoor shower, hot tub and the fireplace for the rainy evenings. The hot tub in the rain was actually quite pleasant. In addition we walked every morning to the waterfall and the beautiful "oasis". The house comes stocked with all the basics needed for your stay - plenty of towels, paper goods, salt, pepper, foil, etc. Highly recommended!

Wonderful house in a wonderful area
We stayed in the house with 3 families for 8 nights and had one of our most wonderful holidays ever. We were 12 (6 adults and 6 children) and while that was a bit of a stretch we managed fine and enjoyed the warm, cosy and beautiful house a lot. The views from any of the windows in all directions are amazing - you're literally in the middle of a lava field surrounded by beautiful mountains and a volcanic crater. The house is perfectly located for watching the northern lights as there is almost no light pollution. We saw the lights 5 out of 8 nights (we were lucky with the weather). It's also a great location in Iceland if you want to visit Snaefellsness or the north (tip: Sjávarborg Restaurant in Hvammstangi). Heidi and Rob have been very communicative and helpful on all aspects of this trip, and provided us with detailed answers to all our questions and helped with our plans. We mixed day tours with days around the house which has great nature just minutes away. The children could play around the house for hours, even though it was constantly freezing. We hope to come there again sometime. Highly recommended!

Perfect place to stay outside the cities!
I can't say enough about the house! I was concerned the house would be hard to find since it doesn't not have a formal address the GPS can find and I was nervous to rely on the picture directions the owner sent, but they worked perfectly! The house is beautiful and immaculate! The floor to ceiling Windows give way to beautiful views. The bathroom was large and modern with an open shower and a half bath located in the portion of the house accessible from the outside was also modern and warm. All 4 rooms were simple and comfortable. Having a hot tub was icing on the cake and we utilized it every night. The location was amazing! 10 min walk to the waterfalls, down the road from Grabrok Crater (an easy assent with stairs) across from Hotel Bifrost and university and a convenient 20 min drive from Borgarnes or 1.5 to snaefellness peninsula. Heidirun was very responsive to my messages and easy to work with. Many of the 8 of us said the house itself was one of the highlights of our trip. I without a doubt will recommend her properties. Thanks again!!!
