Stroll with ice cream in hand along the rocky coastline of this rugged bay with views of an 18th-century lighthouse.

Limestone cliffs tower over the rustic pebbly shoreline of Bracelet Bay Beach. This serene and relaxing haven is a quieter option than some of the more central beaches of Swansea. Appreciate the spectacular views of the cliffs as you play near the sea with your family.

Relax on one of the small sandy patches on the otherwise pebbly beach. Enjoy a picnic with your family while the soothing sound of the waves creates pleasant background music. Capture photos of the Mumbles Lighthouse in the distance. See as far as Devon in southwestern England on a clear day. The sea is cold and choppy but safe for swimming. Sea canoeing is one of the popular activities here.

Join the kids searching the beach for crabs, shells and other marine treasures or take them to the children’s play area. Read a book or watch boats passing by. Clamber on top of the rocks and climb up parts of the cliffs. Caves and rock pools are hidden amid the intriguing rock formations.

Dine at one of the restaurants and bars around the limestone cliffs that hover over the bay. Shops shell souvenirs and beach gear.

Walk west for a few minutes to get to Limeslade Bay, which has a coastguard look-out station.

Visit the Mumbles, a spectacular headland with an 18th-century lighthouse and a 19th-century pier. Famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas frequently came to this region, perhaps for creative inspiration. Trek along the trails of Mumbles Hill Nature Reserve to see fishermen’s cottages and historical World War II sites.

The beach remains open and free to access year-round. Swim in the water between May and September, when lifeguards are on duty.

Bracelet Bay Beach is a 6-mile (10-kilometer) drive west past Mumbles Head from the city center. Take a bus from downtown Swansea to the stop near the shore. Use the metered parking above the beach or look for free spaces often available on nearby streets.
