Vintage Cabin on Beautiful Lake O'brien - Includes Pontoon Boat

If you are looking for the true cabin experience, look no further! This classic 1950's property includes a 2 bedroom/1 bath main cabin, 1 bedroom/1 bath guest house, and a free standing sauna; all in a stand of mature pine trees that will take your breathe away. The property was purchased by my wife and I in 2017 and was completely renovated. A small but efficient layout, the main cabin has 2 bedrooms with double beds, a 3/4 bath, living room with wood burning fireplace and dining room with great lake views. The kitchen includes a 2 burner cooktop, a microwave/convection oven combo, fridge and a single bowl sink. The indoor space flows to an outdoor area with fire pit and grill. The rental comes complete with a pontoon boat (2018 Bennington), and a new large platform dock that makes spending time on the lake simple and enjoybale! For those that like to stay connected or not miss the big game, both the main and guest cabin have high definition TV's with local cable service, and both structures have free Wi-Fi. In addition, both structures include air conditioning for those muggy summer nights! And for those cooler nights, the property has a free standing sauna with electric heater. Take a dip in the lake afterwards to complete your sauna experience!

Situated 5 mile east of the town of Crosslake, crystal clear Lake O'Brien is spring fed with a water clarity of 24', making it one of the cleanest two lakes in the entire watershed district! The lake itself is surrounded by mature pines. There is approximately 5 miles of shoreline, of which about a quarter of the lake is undeveloped state owned property. During the summer, this recreational lake is perfect for fishing, skiing, wake boarding, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and all other water based activities, including just floating on an air mattress!! It's location a quiet tar township road make it perfect for a morning walk or bike ride.

Our property is perfect for a family of up to 6 or a few couples. We have a strict limit of 6 due to the size of the cabins. We do keep our calendar updated and so if you are seeing availability then it's likely available. Upon reservation and prior to your stay you'll receive a complete 'what to bring' list so you are prepared for your time up north. Feel free to inquire with any questions you may have and we'll be prompt to reply! We pride ourselves on keeping our property in and structures/equipment in great condition and are certain we'll exceed your expectations in that regard. And further since we also live on the same lake, should any questions ro problems arise we can respond quickly. In fact, your only disappointment will be when you have to leave!!

The pontoon boat is typically in the water and available for use from mid-May to the beginning of October.

Idyllic Lake Retreat
Everything.was perfect at the white cabin. The location and qualities of the cabin are exactly as pictured. The setting is peaceful and serene positioned between Lake O'Brien and Goodrich lake. I loved looking at both lakes from the kitchen as they sparkled nearby. The Balmers are expert hosts and instantly responsive to any questions. Everything is perfectly maintained and in good working order making for a really comfortable vacation. We loved the pontoon and found that to be a great addition. We are definitely coming back next year as the cabin was perfect for extended family visits. I grew up in this area and it means a lot to me. Our time at the white cabin did not disappoint.Thank you Jeff and lLindsay.

We loved our stay here! Everything was so beautiful! Our favorite places to hang out were the firepit and the outdoor porch. The bedding and mattresses are so comfortable! We went hiking at a local trail, came back and made soup on the stove, played cards and had s’mores by the firepit. The fact that we could bring the dogs too was so nice! I love all the decorative touches in both cabins. Perfect getaway. Can’t wait to come back!

Autumn Splendor
My husband and I decided to schedule a staycation in MN to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We couldn’t have chosen a better location. We were blessed with beautiful fall weather and the coziest accommodations. The cabin sits on a hill with direct access to Lake O’Brien. When outside on the cobblestone patio, the large pines, various trees, and views of lakes on both sides of the property provided the perfect backdrop to soak in the fall colors. We had daily bonfires 🔥fished from shore, and relaxed in the extra sunroom watching the beautiful sunsets. I even did a polar plunge in the evening with our dog Scout! The cabin had a wonderful cozy atmosphere, was pet friendly, and made some great memories of evenings spent conversing and reflecting on the last 30 years. We would recommend for any couple or family to stay at the White Cabin to unwind, unplug and get reconnected!

Went up with my wife, 17month daughter, parents and my wife’s parents and we all have a GREAT time! Jeff and Lindsay are wonderful people and they have a very special place that they have kept up wonderfully! Awesome Cabin
This was a lovely place to stay. The cabin, guest cabin and screen porch were awesome. Also the dock and platoon boat puts this place over the top! The hosts make it easy to check in and out. The one issue was there was no place to walk the dogs or ride our bikes safely.

Dream Come True
For years I had a dream of spending the Fourth of July on a lake with my family. This year it came true and what a fabulous place this property was! I took the guest cottage and put my family in the main cottage. The gazebo was the perfect place to watch fireworks without mosquitos. It was a step back in time with the vintage feel and so very comfortable and equipped. The setting was ideal, the owners were attentive and prompt in responding. I left a piece of my heart at The White Cabin on Lake O’Brien and hope to return someday! Thank you, Jeff and Lindsay! ❤️⚓️

The week in Crosslake was everything we had hoped it would be- relaxing, restful, and indulgent. From start to finish, our stay was perfect. Lindsay was incredibly communicative throughout our stay- even texting within minutes of the power going out one night. It quickly returned, but it was reassuring for her to reach out so quickly. The cabin was exactly as advertised. It was very clean and had upscale features (faucets, lighting fixtures, cabinetry, etc.) that you would not necessarily expect in a lakeside cottage. The bedding was comfortable and the shower was spacious and had good water flow and temperature. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates, glasses, etc., and had many other items to make preparing a meal yourself very easy. There were three features, however, that really make this place ideal. The guest cottage made vacationing with another couple easy in that we could spend time together and then retreat to our separate spaces. Secondly, having a pontoon boat available was so convenient and appreciated; we spent numerous hours on the water. The third and best feature (in our opinion) was the screened in porch. It sits on a hill overlooking the water and has screens that can be opened on all sides to allow for the summer breeze to flow throughout. There are four comfortable chairs and a single cot-style bed that was ideal for napping. The cabin also has electricity, making it possible to be out there at night. This was our "go-to" space all week.

We loved our stay! Our weekend getaway was filled with memories and laughs! The pontoon was amazing! We enjoyed many hours floating and fishing on the take! Simply Beautiful
We we unable to stay in this property due to the weather but Jeff and Lindsay had another option for us and we were so thankful. The property was so quaint and clean and decorated beautifully. Jeff and Lindsay were wonderful to work with and they have kept this cabin in pristine shape. The lot is on the lake and gorgeous. We wish the weather would have been warmer but we enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

Despite unexpected cold and snow, this property was just about perfect for a mid-April anniversary escape sans children. (Although we thought many times that next time we’d bring the kids!) A beautiful property with lots of charm and character. And great care by the caretakers.
