Nestled on the owner’s working farm, Tatters Barn is a beautifully presented, detached barn conversion, which is located in the countryside of Withies Green, Essex. Decorated and furnished to an excellent standard, this property is perfect for that luxurious countryside break away with family or friends. Steeped in history, this converted barn was once used to store potatoes, influencing the name Tatters Barn. Stunning features include original beams, an open reception area with bay windows, two gallery style bedrooms and a large enclosed garden. The owner’s grounds comprise 125 acres of farmland, which makes for a most scenic backdrop as you make your way along the footpaths and tracks. A bike store is available and plenty of cycle routes are situated locally, providing guests with a great way to enjoy the countryside.
Nearby attractions include the quaint village of Coggeshall, home to nearly 200 listed buildings and full of history. The town of Braintree has many shops, bars and restaurants. Horseracing can be enjoyed 5 miles away. Also nearby is Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town with a castle, museums, art gallery, many Roman remains, a good shopping centre, Colchester Zoo and a mainline rail link to London. Fantastic!
The best holiday rental we have stayed in, in terms of the design, style and quality of the interior. It is fully equipped with everything you might need, and the owner thoughtfully provided tea, coffee and a packet of biscuits! The beds were large and comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern. The whole place was spotlessly clean. The setting, amongst the horse's paddocks is very peaceful, and being just off a quiet lane means all you can hear is birdsong! The caretaker Russell was very warm and welcoming, and approachable - thank you! We loved seeing the horses everyday, it gave our holiday another plus! We took our bikes as the quiet country lanes are perfect for cycling through the pretty villages and countryside. The location is perfect for a day trip into London, as well as some of the local attractions nearby. I would love to stay here again! Thank you! Rachael, Jeremy and Emily
