All aspects of this property are five star and I rate it overall as 5 stars excellent. It is quiet and beautiful and the landscape and rock formations are stunning. The cave room was beautiful and the restaurant was excellent.
Really pleasant stay and great staff. We were in a cave room, well stocked though a few more outlets would have been great. The larger swimming pool had too few lounge chairs and shaded areas, making it difficult to enjoy as other guests got there first!
Be sure you have or rent an SUV or sturdy 4 wheel drive as access roads are unpaved for about 10-15km.

Love the staff the most! Gabriela, the new waiter in training (last name Thomas I think) everyone!
We had a memorable honeymoon stay at Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve. The property is beautifully maintained, blending comfort with the rugged charm of the Cederberg landscape.
Cleanliness: The rooms were spotless, with thoughtful touches that made us feel at home.
Pool & Spa: The pool was well-kept and inviting, though on the smaller side. It was perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring, and the spa was relaxing and professional—an ideal way to unwind.
Staff & Service: The staff were warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay special.
Facilities: Everything felt well cared for, from the lodge amenities to the outdoor areas.
Surroundings: The reserve itself is breathtaking—quiet, scenic, and full of unique rock formations. It’s a great base for stargazing, hikes, and soaking in the natural beauty.
Highlights:
Stargazing under the clear night sky was unforgettable.
The guided nature walks gave us a deeper appreciation of the local wildlife and history.
Dining options were varied and delicious, fresh with a nice balance of local flavors.
Travel notes:
Kagga Kamma is located about three hours’ drive from Cape Town, so plan ahead for the journey.
The nearest town is roughly an hour and a half away, making the reserve very secluded. This adds to the tranquility, but it’s worth preparing for the remoteness.

The property was located in a wonderful nature area. It was very beautiful. The room was as expected.
The dining experience at the property was average, food was substandard and service was okay. The receptionist who checked us in was and I quote a "gen z" She made a mistake with our room numbers. then the next day one of the staff members walked up to my husband while he was having lunch, in front of other guests, very loudly told him that he should have checked out hours ago. He was forced to rush through his meal only to go and tell them that they made an error. Very embarrassing.

Spectacular hotel to stay in. My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, the food was delicious and the staff were so welcoming. I wish we stayed there extra nights. Hardly any cellphone signal which is a great thing sometimes. WIFI in the bar area. The star gazing excursion is a must and such a lovely experience. 2 things I would reconsider.....1) the game drives and star gazing is too expensive especially if you are a family of 4 and the reserve does not have all of the BIG 5.
2) The Spa needs more therapists as most people could not make a reservation as the Spa was always fully booked.
Very remote and that is what makes this beautiful retreat even more special.
The food is great too and dining at the fire and under the stars is one of the best places I ever enjoyed dinner.
We will definitely return!
Just the star gazing would worth the trip! Beautiful accommodations in a magical setting. Staff extremely professional and caring. Loved loved loved it!
Unique stay with wonderful feeling of ‘being at one with nature’. The rooms were pretty pricey for what they were (we stayed in a cave suite) and the food very average. However the whole experience was lovely - we saw a fair range of animals (don’t expect safari but some interesting birds and antelope) and went on some good walks. The staff were exceptional and made our stay very special.
Absolutely marvellous! The hut, the surroundings, the food the service and the pool were all truly amazing. Sam and Anja held the San Art tour and we learned a lot about the Fynbos, the animals living there and San and Khoi people. Best place we visited in South Africa, thank you for making a childhood memory for our kids.
