We had a wonderful stay at Ford house it could not have been any better. Beautiful Gardens lovely breakfast, close to the river, geese, fire,
how wonderful, what more could you want?
Ford House was a pleasant surprise with lots of surprises. Set in a beautiful garden and surrounded by beautiful giftware the afternoon was a pleasant diversion from our travels. Breakfast was served in amongst the giftware and preserved fruit. Our room was themed in French decor. The toiletries were disappointing especially when so many were on offer in the giftware and the pillows need updating otherwise the room was comfortable with good heating. We walked into Bridgetown for dinner. Breakfast could have been so much more given the surroundings
I have stayed at Ford House on 4-5 occasions now and the experience never fails to please. Jenny is a wonderful host, supported by a great crew of friendly, informative girls. Set beside the Blackwood River on the edge of Bridgetown, a glass of wine on sundown, staring at the magic reflections created by the deep brown (tannin) waters gently disturbed by the passing ducks & geese offers a great sense of tranquility.
A good selection of dining places within 10 mins walk. Flying Duck offered a very interesting menu, grt food and a wonderfully friendly local crowd.
An idyllic country hideaway. Beautiful room with all the comfirts. The breakfast room which doubles as a gift shop is an absolute Aladdin's Cave. Breakfast was delicious with teapots of perfectly brewed tea and bowls of freshly stewed fruit.
The grounds are reminiscent of an English ciuntry garden complete with pet geese wandering around. The staff are lovely and so friendly and accomodating. Plenty of lovely walks along the Blackwood River and around the township are close at hand. A beautiful place.

Pleasant stay in Bridgetown
Checking in was a little rushed and we were allocated a different room to the one we booked, but the room we got was pleasant and very clean. Toilet was a little tight but the spa bath was very nice. Bed was comfortable enough but moved away from the headboard a lot. Beautiful gardens and well located to walk into town whilst having nice views of the river.
What a wonderful surprise waited for us when i booked this B&B at the last minute. Great location in Bridgetown, walking distance from town to shops. To stay at a historic house was an experience. Well equipped house with beautiful interior intact in the shared sitting and dining room. Romantic gardens with old flowering roses, fruit trees and friendly geese. We enjoyed a quiet morning on the deck amongst the roses, listening to the kookaburra's, cockatoos and rosella's and seeing the blue wren in the undergrowth. The biggest surprise was our delicious cooked breakfast served up in the shop... but at a wonderful laid out large oval table surrounded by Christmas decorations!
Have already recommended this place to several friends!
Stayed with my mum for the open gardens in Bridgetown. Lovely gardens around ford house. Very comfortable room and lovely areas to sit and have a wine in the afternoon!
Breakfast was a great experience!
Novel experience to have your breakfast cooked amongst Xmas decorations and items in an emporium. The B&B was unique and we particularly enjoyed the gardens. Shared hospitality was a feature of the establishment.
Rang to confirm reservation and was abruptly told yes it is fine. No warmth at all.
Arrived late and was given the wrong suite.
Suite had a dirty toilet.
No bubble bath provided for spa.
Had requested gluten free bread- next morning at breakfast no bread was provided , no apology , simply said didn't know.
Cold night in Bridgetown but a great place to stay with lovely rooms and friendly hosts.

Liked: Room comfort
Beautiful room, lovely and cosy.
Beautiful place on the river. Only downfall was a leaky tap in the bathroom that dripped all night and a heater we couldn't have very high due to the awful noise it emitted. Staff were ok, Michelle was friendly the others not so much.
Beautiful room with an old world charm. Room temperatue cold given that it is more than 100 yrs old house with an old insulation feature. Other than that, it was perfect.
This turn of the century B&B has a lot of the original features - wood burning stoves for starters. I really enjoyed the charm and the grounds were gorgeous! Definitely take a stroll through the gardens. But it wasn't all quaint...they had some modern electrics (blankets for starters) to keep me comfortable. And the country breakfast was yummy! Cooked to order eggs and bacon as well as toast and cereal. And my very own press of coffee :-)
My friend and I broke our annual trip to Walpole to stay here overnight, and enjoyed it so much that we plan to stay again in April to do all our Christmas shopping!
I taught here at the High School years ago, so it was a nostalgic trip too.
