Windermere Escape by Tiny Away

Summary:
Experience the ultimate country retreat at Windermere Escape. Only half an hour from the centre of Brisbane, it is a world away from the buzz and traffic. Situated in the beautiful Samford Valley, surrounded by the mountains and forests of the D’Aguilar National Park, you will totally relax and unwind in this beautiful, peaceful place.

Wake up to just the sound of birds with over 100 species of birdlife, and wildlife such as wallabies, possums, sugar gliders and hares to delight you.

The Space:
Windermere Escape is a designated ‘Land for Wildlife’ property set on 10 acres, situated in Wights Mountain in the Moreton Bay region just north of Brisbane. It can be reached by car in 30 minutes from the centre of Brisbane or 45 minutes from the airport. The train station of Ferny Grove is a 15-minute drive and there is a 30-minute direct line to Brisbane. The tiny house is near Jollys Lookout, Mount Glorious, Mount Nebo, and Cedar Creek.

The tiny house is surrounded by lush vegetation, situated on top of a hill, giving it stunning views of the forested slopes of the D'Aguilar National Park. Wander through the grounds which range from informal gardens and open paddocks through orchards and sloping gently down to the small rainforest with a dry creek bed that occasionally becomes a rushing torrent. Enjoy exploring the 3 dams and see if you can spot a turtle or water dragon.

You will be staying in a cozy 139-square-foot tiny house with fresh linen and pillows for a restful sleep. Complete with all the comforts of home including air conditioning, a well-supplied kitchenette, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated). Additionally, we have an outdoor terrace with seating, a Weber barbecue, and a fire pit are provided for your enjoyment.

If you plan to spend your farm stay QLD retreats here, just bring your basic necessities including food and drinks for your stay.

Guest Access:
On your arrival retrieve the key from the lock box for access to the Tiny House
Please note that the surrounding area is shared between Windermere Escape and a guest suite attached to the main house. Each has its own private, secluded area.

Feel free to wander at will around the ten acre property. There are many walking tracks.
As we have three un-fenced farm dams the property is not considered suitable for young children.
Guests will have restricted access to the main house (your land host’s private residence) and to the guest unit attached to it. The sheds and vegetable garden also have restricted access. We appreciate your understanding.

The Neighborhood:
Windermere Escape is located in the quiet neighbourhood of Wights Mountain in the Moreton Bay region, just 30 minutes by car from Brisbane, 5 kilometres down the road is Samford Village, with its many coffee shops and specialty stores, including the Store of Requirement for Harry Potter fans!

Our local recommendations:

-The swimming holes of Cedar Creek and Eatons Crossing are great places to take a dip.
-Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious, close by in the D’Aiguilar National Park, are quaint hilltop villages with small cafes, spectacular forest walks, and BBQ areas surrounded by rolling parkland.
-Jollys Lookout, near Mount Nebo offers panoramic views over Enoggera Forest Reserve, out to Moreton Bay and the Glasshouse Mountains.
-Samford Village, our local village, is known for its coffee shops, local organic produce, boutiques and country charm.
-The Lyell Deer Sanctuary at Mount Samson is family-run animal rescue service opened up to share the beauty and magic, and a taste of animal sanctuary life.
-Within easy reach is the boating and fishing playground of Moreton Bay.

Getting Around:
By car:

- Brisbane City centre is 30 minutes drive, 26 kms. Allow 45 minutes from the Airport. Samford Village is 5
minutes drive, 5 kms.
- "Windermere" is easily reached by 2WD.

By public transport:

- Take the train from Brisbane Central to Ferny Grove Station. From here it is a 15 minute drive by taxi to
"Windermere Escape".
- You can also park your car at Ferny Grove Station for a stress-free train ride to Brisbane City or the
cultural events at Southbank.

Other Things to Note:
-No WiFi
-Pets are not allowed
-Gas Weber BBQ Grill available
-No smoking allowed on the property
-No unregistered visitors or guests allowed
-There are no domestic pets on the property
-We have a laundry (washing machine) for guest use
-Telstra and Optus have good signal; others have no signal
-Extra bags of firewood for the fire pit are available at $20 per basket
-We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge

Safety guidelines

-Keep to the paths and do not walk in the long grass
-Keep an eye out for shy wallabies at dawn and dusk, they love to hop around
-Please note that there are 3 unfenced dams, so guests should take care

Important note:

-Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
-Due to the nature of the property, be aware of reptiles and insects.
-In order to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our cassette toilets a minimum additional cleaning fee is applied for stays of 5 nights or more. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a hygienic experience during your stay.
