Hey! You’ve made it to The Cliffhouse where the locals describe as “the best view in all of McCurtain County - period,” making it a very special place. There are no neighbors and you are secluded. Sounds awesome, right? But, please read the description in its entirety to ensure this special and unique place is for you!

Because of its location, not only will you avoid extra town taxes and fees upon booking, but The Cliffhouse also provides an incredible retreat from hustle and bustle of the big city. You get the best of both worlds! This 1,000 square foot cabin sits atop a mountain on 80 acres overlooking Broken Bow Lake. Being surrounded by 6,000 acres of National Forest and US Corp of Engineer land provides unparalleled hiking, mountain biking and bird watching right from your doorstep. The 600 square foot deck faces the lake and has incredible panoramic views.

The Cliffhouse is entirely off-grid. entirely off-grid. We produce our own power, water (well), hot water and have our own septic system. We are 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home! Because we are green; however, we do have to choose which luxuries we would like to have. In our efforts to conserve energy, we have decided to opt out of bath and hot tubs in all of our mountain cabins. We also have have a filter, but the well water has iron in it, so please bring bottled water if this makes you uncomfortable.

The Cliffhouse is on its own well, separate from the other three cabins, therefore, it does have a washer and dryer.

Bedroom 1: Downstairs bedroom with a Queen bed
Loft: A 350 square foot loft with breathtaking views overlooking the lake accessed via ships ladder with a Queen bed and Twin bed
Bathroom 1: Full bathroom with a shower downstairs
Bathroom 2: Half-bathroom downstairs
Note: While the ship's ladder leading to the loft adds to the charm and offers spectacular views, we ask guests to consider if this will pose challenges for their stay. There is also a bedroom downstairs.

🚨 We realize that this is where most like to stop reading, but we ask that you please scroll a little more to review the important information for the drive in and more! 🚨

►✨ DRIVE IN / ACCESS
The mountain cabins sit 5 miles off of Highway 259 and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. It’s a beautiful drive and we oftentimes see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls!

You will need a vehicle with some clearance as well as a bit of driving skill to make it in. 4WD and/or AWD is NOT necessary, but helpful.

► We strongly suggest:
→ a small, medium or large SUV
→ any size truck
→ a crossover
► We strongly advise against:
→ a minivan
→ a sedan or coupe

The first 2 miles of the drive are easy and you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles are slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. The roads are rocky and bumpy, but will not ever be muddy.

There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads. This means you will travel up the mountain until you have reached our mountain top.

Don't have a vehicle that meets the requirements, but still want to visit? We have partnered with Marc at Red Dirt Car Service and have several happy guests that have already used this transportation service! Please send an inquiry for more information.

►✨ TECHNOLOGY & CELL SERVICE
The Cliffhouse now has Starlinnk and there is cell phone service! Verizon and AT&T work best, while Sprint and T-Mobile are limited. There aren't any TVs or cable service. You will need to bring your own entertainment and pre-download your movies on your own device before arriving.
Disclaimer:Bear Creek Vacations is not responsible for reliability of internet or outages from service provider. WiFi is provided as a convenience only and is not integral to the use the property. No refund of payments shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use or personal preference regarding services.

►✨ BOATS, TRAILERS & ATVs, oh my!
Boats & Trailers: Please do not try to bring a boat up to any of our cabins on the mountain! You will likely regret it, we promise! 😉 All jokes aside, Beavers Bend Marina has slips that you can rent for your stay and it’s super convenient to leave your boat in the water. They can also provide a place to leave your trailer!
ATVs: You can ride straight into the Ouachita National Forest from our property! Please check with the US Forest Service for all laws regarding ATV riding. It’s possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines.
Bear Creek Vacations will not be held responsible for any tickets, violations or accidents.

►✨ GRILL & FIRE
The grill is propane and directly wired into the house. Instead of a propane tank, you will see a timer. There is a fire pit. Please bring matches. Our cleaning service no longer provides firewood.

►✨ MAX OCCUPANCY
The Cliffhouse sleeps 5. Due to fire marshal regulations and insurance purposes, the number of guests per cabin is strictly enforced. Additionally, our off-grid systems cannot sustain more than the max number of guests.

►✨ PUP-FRIENDLY
Maximum of 2 dogs allowed. No cats. Pet Fee: $150 per stay. Please review house rules and pet policy prior to bringing your pets to avoid additional charges.

Delightful
Spent the weekend there with my family. Excellent communication with the property owners. The drive to the cabin had some pretty vistas. The cabin is perfect! It was clean and cozy. We loved watching the sunrise from inside the cabin in the mornings. Stargazing on the deck at night. Shower had great water pressure and good hot water. It was a perfect escape from the city. We will definitely be back! Only thing to point out, there are hunters in the woods. We weren’t aware of that and the sounds of gun shots in the distance were jarring.

Absolutely PERFECT!
After two years of caregiving and the loss of our precious mother, we needed a quiet, beautiful place to rest, recover and grieve. The Cliffhouse was perfect! Andy & Debbie were so easy to communicate with for any questions and the cabin was super clean, well-stocked, and the view was OUT OF THIS WORLD! We lacked for nothing and will be back! We used Google Maps for directions and they were spot on! If you have an appropriate vehicle (as specified in information given) and are not afraid of country roads, you will have no problems getting to the cabin!

The breath taking sunrises will forever be in our minds as we remember our Broken Bow visit. This cabin was just what we needed to get away from it all. Simple and beautifully done. Thank you for sharing your cabin. We hope to return in the future.

The VIEW...
The view was as listed and grand but when the generator started at 2am in the morning it awakened us and we could not go back to sleep.. We left the next morning and went into town and got a hotel room. As far as the rest of the cabin, the windows were dirty and the place needed a good cleaning for the dust and cobb webs. As for the road, glad I own a truck, a bit rough, I understand because of the location. I would like to at least get a refund for one night to help off set the hotel room.

Wonderful cabin and gorgeous views!
We stayed a few days in this cabin as our first time in the area. It is absolutely gorgeous, very easy check in and out! The drive is definitely for larger vehicles as the posting states but we had no issue finding the property via Google Maps. Communication with the management was great, very friendly and quick to reply. I am already looking forward to my trip back here!

Beautiful hill top retreat
This property is stunning. What could be better than waking up that view, spending the day hiking, enjoying the lake, and watching the stars by firelight. The property was exactly as listed and the hosts were super helpful. The internet worked well enough to stay online and stream music. Not well enough to take conference calls, which was a dream. We hope to be back in the fall.

Loved the cabin this is my second time coming to enjoy the ability to completely disconnect from the city and enjoy the pure wilderness, loved the hiking trails, tried two day to reach the lake by foot and when we made it it was an amazing view and accomplishment, we also visited the beavers bend park to enjoy the trails and rivers, at night is so silent and calm and the reflection of the lake is just mesmerizing, i am highly anticipating my return as it was a great experience.

Nice getaway - impressive view
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Cliffhouse! Drive to the cabin was scenic and manageable with our Honda CRV. Cabin was very nice, clean, and private. The view was very impressive and we witnessed some amazing sunrises! Also had some time to tour the nearby Hochatown. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun private getaway!
