This spacious house has a large fenced lawn area for families to play a variety of games; croquet, frisbee, or even kick the soccer ball around. The home sits on a corner lot in a residential neighborhood at the end of the street. The circular driveway provides an easy access and parking for an RV or if towing a small boat or trailer (please contact the office to make us aware if such item will be on property). There is a 2-car garage to help make unloading easy. The garage also has a small layout for a versitile game area with a ping pong table. In the warmer seasons with the windows open, you can hear the neighboring ocean waves lull you to sleep.
Use the built-in back patio for entertaining, and there are plenty of sunlit rooms for lounging around on your vacation. We try to use only non-toxic cleaning products, recycled and organic paper products, organic native landscaping, compost, filtered water, and compact fluorescent bulbs. We support local businesses and our welcome binder is filled with local attractions and lists of places to go.
The area is referred to as the 'Banana Belt' because of its year-round sunny days and warm weather. It is just a few miles away from uninterrupted hiking along the world-famous Harris Beach State Park and a few minutes walk to miles of uninterrupted beachcombing. The nearby beach overlooks Camel Rock and crosses several small creeks to the north, making for beautiful private walks, and some of the best surfing and skimboarding in Southern Oregon.
Some of the coast's best fishing trips start in Brookings, from Oregon's cleanest river, the Chetco, to the Smith, Winchuck, & Rogue River. Guided raft trips and mellow inner tube floats are a great way to spend the day, and you can even end your Winchuck River trip within walking distance of the house.
The oldest trees on the planet are found within a 30-minute drive to Jedediah Smith State Park, and touching these mighty redwood ancestors is an unforgettable experience. The same distance takes you to Crescent City for all the 'big-city' frills like the Ocean World Aquarium, complete with shark-petting and sea lion shows.
Come enjoy the incredible beauty of the Oregon Coast from our warm and cozy cabin. We've done everything to make it feel like a home away from home. It was built by Bob Itzen of Itzen Drive, and the solid wood open beams have a history of their own. We even have a little electronic keyboard for your musical sing-alongs, a DVD cable on the DVD so you can watch the photos straight from your digital camera, and a small library of ocean-themed movies, books, magazines, art, and even board games. There is a wonderful loft in one bedroom for the kids to hang out - a great place for sleeping bags and late-night whispers!
So whether you want a romantic beach getaway or a family-friendly vacation, give us a try. You will have the trip of a lifetime.
