The Teachers House

Escape to the tranquillity of the Teacher's House, one of only six original timber worker houses lovingly restored in the historic Old Saw Mill Town of Brooman. This charming retreat offers a unique blend of history, comfort, and natural beauty, perfect for those seeking a peaceful getaway.
Step Back in Time
Originally home to the last teacher in Brooman, this house whispers stories of a bygone era. Built with local timber, including original floorboards, weatherboards, and Coachwood architraves, it retains its authentic charm while offering modern comforts.
Cozy Comfort and Modern Amenities
Wake to the warm crackling of the cosy fireplace, its gentle light dancing across the spacious bedroom. The luxurious king-size bed promises a restful sleep, and you can enjoy the comforting view of the flickering flames right from your bed.
The spacious kitchen beckons you to create culinary delights, while the combined living and dining area provides the perfect setting for enjoying meals with your travel companion. Step into the well-appointed bathroom and let the refreshing shower wash away your cares.
Embrace the Serenity of Nature
Step out onto the front balcony and soak in the warm evening sun. Watch the world go by as you unwind after a day of exploring.
The old town site sits opposite a large bend in the Clyde River, with deep water extending nearly a kilometre upstream. Enjoy canoeing, fishing for bass, platypus watching, or simply listening to the many unique bird species native to this area.
As dusk settles, you might spot a mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos. Red-necked Wallabies are also frequent visitors. Bandicoots, microbats, blue-tongued lizards, and possums also call this area home.
Explore the History of Brooman
The buildings in Brooman date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s and once supported a thriving community of up to 200 people employed in the timber mill. Brooman had a post office, school, dance hall, mechanics building, general store, phone exchange, and cottages like the Teacher's House for the sawmill workers and their families.
Additional Details:
The property is completely off-grid, powered by a central solar system with underground 240V power.
