Welcome to circa 1775 Virginia!

Highlands Cabin c.1775, is a breath of fresh air from the busyness of our hectic day-to-day lives. This authentic log cabin is made of hand hewn logs of maple, oak and chestnut brought to this farm from W.VA., reassembled with a large 2nd fl bdrm, large 1st fl bathroom with an antique pedestal bathtub/shower, a kitchenette and a screened back porch. Modern amenities. Fireplace with split wood, private setting on farm, central HVAC. Highlands Cabin sits on a knoll off a private drive on 250 acres of farmland above the confluence of two rivers. Guests need to be comfortable with 'the dark of a country night' & the illusion of isolation. We are only 1/2 mile away. The road is a combo asphalt & dirt/gravel. We have no outdoor lighting or property lighting of any kind. The only lighting is inside your cabin and the two porches. Our guests must be comfortable with the dark. We do our best to keep “the country in the country”. This country setting is 4 miles from the center of downtown Lexington with its excellent restaurants, gift shops, historical interests. Enjoy the magic!

Great 360 degree mountain vista walks on 250 acres. Modern day labyrinth.

You won't be disappointed choosing to stay here! In addition to the absolutely gorgeous views and magical land are overnight accommodations to suit a variety of travelers. Authentic log cabins from c.1775 to early 1900's have been reconstructed with modern amenities and add-ons i.e. decks, bedrooms, kitchens etc. These cabins and land have privacy and stunning views of 2 mountain ranges on 250 acres of hay fields and forest above the Maury and South Rivers. A/C and heat. Truly magical!

Vintage cozy
A peaceful step back in time. Cozy cabin with comfortable furniture and period pieces. Lots of games, reading material, and near and far trails to walk, yet close to Lexington, Natural Bridge and VA history. Kitchen is sufficient if you are mainly heating up stuff and not planning to cook from scratch. Small very vintage stove and very vintage fridge with tiny freezer and no interior light. Well stocked kitchen otherwise. Large very comfortable upstairs bedroom with cable tv, and sitting area. Temperatures were in the 70's while I was there, so HVAC system wasn't used much. Cabin was cooler than air outside as nestled in trees. Had a problem with water flow to bathtub but manager was responsive and addressed the problem. Would not recommend if you have mobility or balance problems as the terrain is uneven and cabin has stairs and stopover vintage tub.

Rustic cabin getaway
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this cabin over memorial weekend! The cozy atmosphere and seclusion was perfect to decompress. The owner provides listings of sightseeing opportunities and things in the area to keep you busy. The amenities of the cabin offer you the comfort and security that ties everything together.
