It is located just off of Highway 167 and offers a long gravel driveway through an umbrella of trees, which opens up into a freshly-constructed 2 bedroom ( each with a queen size bed )2 full bathroom home, featuring a large furnished front porch, from which to enjoy all of the sights and sounds of nature... Woods for exploring, mountains for hiking, quick access to stocked trout streams and Watauga Lake for fishing, a fire pit and a saucer swing in the trees. The front door opens to reveal the fully-furnished open-concept kitchen, dining room and living room area. Two private bedrooms and bathrooms are located just beyond the main area. The back porch sits at the foot of the mountain that shades the home from behind and offers a gated and walled area.

The kitchen is fully-stocked with everything you might need to prepare meals and includes all necessary items like hand soap, dish soap and coffee makings. The bathrooms also contain soaps and shampoos and other amenities include a washer and dryer with laundry detergent provided, a television in the living room for streaming and wi-fi throughout the home and a cabinet with board games.
Each bedroom is designed to sleep up to two guests.
Home owners are accessible on adjacent property and are available to assist, as needed. Depending on the time of year and amount of rain, there is a small brach that runs across the front of the property. The fresh mountain springs provide water for the home.
The property is located within an hour's drive of many attractions. It is a 45-minute drive the famous Bristol Motor Speedway ( in Bristol, TN. Boating, fishing and swimming abounds just 10 minutes away at Lake Watauga ( one of the largest lakes in Tennessee, covering 6,430 acres. From our corner of northeast Tennessee, we can access three different states within an hour. The Virginia Creeper trail in Damascus, VA ( is an amazing opportunity for avid walkers, hikers, or cyclists and is located just 35 minutes from Forest Retreat. If you prefer skiing ( head toward Boone and Blowing Rock, NC for Appalachian, Beech and Sugar Ski Mountains. Also in North Carolina, just 47 minutes from Butler, enjoy hiking and the beauty of Elk River Falls and Park ( a coveted destination for hiking and picnicking. Other outdoors activities include Laurel Falls on the Appalachian Trail ( and Off the Grid Adventures ( for zip-lining, rides and tours in Hampton, TN.
