The room was very clean and well equipped with all the basic amenities. The security was also good. As it was a self contained unit, nobody came to disturb me and that was perfect! The only part which was a bit disappointing was the check in process as no clear instructions were provided. I was dropped off to a wrong location by the uber driver. Luckily it was a 5 minute walk to the Villas. As I came to the Villas, I was a bit confused about the arrangement. So I called the number provided and the person on the other end was a bit rude. Anyways, it was okay in the end as I figured it out.....

Care factor zero by the operators who run this place and several others remotely. Never saw staff and reception never open. Fan in bathroom covered in muck, several lights blown, no washing up tools, no lift, parking difficult between trees, front gate broken, fire information behind front door impossible to follow, Overpriced for what is provided. I was told off by the operator for expecting to arrive at 5.30pm on a weekday. Should be considered for a new version of Faulty Towers, it would be perfect.

Worst stay ever

Rude staff, uncomfortable beds and no sound proofing on rooms. Royal Palm Villas Cairns is likely to be the worst accommodation I have stayed in. All information I was provided with says check-in from 14.00. We arrived at 14.05 to find no staff. A sign at reception says we’re likely out back or upstairs and to call the number. I call and they’re not even on the property. We need to wait 10 minutes for them to get here. Once the lady arrives, she looks up my booking. She finds it easily but is determined I haven’t paid, despite all of my receipts and emails from hotels.com stating I have. After some time she calls another manager and fortunately all is sorted, but being treated like a liar is poor customer service. She then asks for a credit card to put against the booking for any incidentals, standard practice and I hand it over. However rather than any secure procedure to do so, she takes a picture of my card on her phone. Needless to say that card has now been cancelled. The booking is for 3 adults but there is only 1 double bed in the room. She informs me they don’t usually accept bookings for more than 2. She has a think and says she can provide a rollaway bed later. I set up the bed once it arrives to discover an almost paper thin mattress. The most uncomfortable bed, you can feel every bit of metal in the frame below. I took to sleeping on the sofa instead. The blinds are old and broken, the bathroom door does not close. You can hear every sound from all other rooms.

Pretty poor management, only saw a staff member 1 time during my week stay & I had to call to have them come to the reception desk from another venue. Also when I asked to leave luggage on my last day for a few hours until my flight it was made out to be a major inconvenience for him, even going to lengths of him saying “ahh, I have my kids that day…. I’ll try & come by”

Good value for money, place was clean and comfortable. Very close to shops and food venues. Only down side was directly below the landing route for aircraft, but only an issue if sitting outside. Reception not always attended but a phone number provided that was always answered. Would definitely book there again.

Villa was spacious, immaculate, and comfortable. Kitchen had supply of coffee, tea and creamer which was a nice amenity. Laundry avail in the room made for easy wash & dry. Location was easy to find and nice quiet neighborhood. Easy drive to downtown and many take away restaurants nearby. Best feature was the friendly and helpful managers Peter and Helen. They were always available to answer questions and setup bookings. Most highly recommend Royal Palm Villas. This was a great experience!

Stayed twice, before and after a dive trip.

The location was great for touring the area, especially the Barrier Reef. The room was spacious and it was wonderful to have a washer and dryer in the room! The kitchen had everything you would need for simple meals. The couple that run the Villas are really nice and welcoming. You can walk to the beach and shopping and restaurants very easily.
