A fisherman’s dream
The property is located right by the river along great fishing spots. We caught good size browns and rainbows as well as white fish. Great experience and unforgettable memories. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked. The host Mark is very helpful and provides great tips on fishing and everything you may be interested seeing around. A true Montana cabin rustic experience.

Great fishing cabin on the Madison River
Mark, the host, communicated great. We had his number to check in and ask questions and he was quick to respond. Great fishing by walking down the driveway and crossing the road so it was easy to fish in the morning and evening if we were out sightseeing for the day. We had 4 adults in our party and we all slept upstairs in 2 bedrooms and on the couch. We shared the bathroom upstairs. We did not care for the bedrooms downstairs and the cabin is a bit more "rustic" than I anticipated, in case that helps you make a decision on booking this cabin. Great cell service at the cabin, but very spotty cell service when driving to and from Ennis or Yellowstone Park so have your GPS or Maps loaded when you leave the cabin. Montana is a beautiful place to enjoy with family and friends! Have fun!

Great place to stay and fish the Madison
This true rustic log cabin was a great place to stay. Excellent access and fishing on the Madison at the end of the driveway. 4 fishermen stayed comfortably with coming and going at all times. 2 full baths are a great feature. Fishing was just great with just walking to the end of the driveway. We tend to try various places on the Madison river for a bit of change but plan on definitely booking again for a week in the near future.

This is an amazing location to stay, with the Madison River just a short walk away and convenient drives to West Yellowstone and Henry's Fork. The owner is extremely helpful, providing ample information about the house and its surroundings before your arrival. The property is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

A true "Montana" experience
This cabin was a great place to experience the old school essence of Montana. Having been born in the state and having grown up through high school years many decades ago but not back since, it reminded me of my uncles den, a true cowboy if there ever was one. The cabin had every modern convenience you need while still leaving a feeling of roughing it without really doing so. The coffee maker without the K-cups so to speak. We visited, played cards, and for the most of us spent little time in front of the TV although it was there with plenty to watch if we'd wanted to. The ability to walk a few hundred yards and be fishing the great Madison for trout was a huge plus and we spent a lot of time doing just that. Even though it happened to rain most of the days we were there, no one cared. If you are an angler, you are only 5 miles down the road from Galloup's Slide Inn, one of the great fly shops and fishing guide outfits in the region (go ahead, type that name into the search bar in YouTube). Get out with one of their guides then walk out front and fish on your own! Mark, the owner, is a great guy. I probably talked to him on the phone 4 or 5 times. If you're a good person, he's a great person. If you're not, well, I wouldn't... If you really want to get away from your everyday life and decompress, you can not beat a vacation here! Enjoy!

Very interesting place!
If you like game on the walls...this is your place. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms and a nice, large, open air, high ceiling, living room and kitchen area. There is one nice bathroom upstairs. It is obvious that the owner (Mark) lives here at times as there are clothes and dry good foods in the closets. The downstairs/ basement bedrooms are finished, but much of the basement is not. The downstairs bath is part of the laundry area. As a place to crash after a long day of fishing...this is a cool spot. The place is clean. We would stay here again.

Owner rude and threatening.
After staying the first night I woke up to a bad odor in the basement bedroom. My Niece and Nephew had not yet arrived and the only other room left was in the basement. I did not want them to suffer as I did. Asked the owner if they could bring a trailer. He blew a fuse accusing me of trying to pull a scam. That day we went to Yellowstone Park. While we were gone he sent the Care Taker to the Cabin. She went in without our knowledge or permission. She reported she did not smell anything. I met her and she is a very nice lady and probably didn't smell anything because we had all the widows open and fans running. When talking to the owner he again said there is no smell in the cabin and if I have a problem with that I should go meet the Care Takers husbands he said " You cant miss him he is 6' 10". After that comment my daughter was terrified the rest the night that some large man was going to harm us. When we returned we found a dead mouse at the bottom of stairs. Then inspected the basement rooms a little closer. There is rat poison in every corner and window, my room had rat poison under the bed along with a large amount of rat feces. My Nephew and I could not get the smell out and determined there must dead decaying mice in the closet between the two bedrooms. This room was locked and I was not going to call the owner again. The sliding glass door to patio is covered with plastic and full of flies. We had to pull weeds around the fire pit to use it.

Excellent location, hospitality and flexibility
We were staying here in the aftermath of the 2022 Yellowstone floods. The park was closed when we arrived, but Mark allowed us to extend the reservation 3 days and share the place with him. He cooked for us (deer tenderloin and ribs) and showed great hospitality. Plus he is very gregarious and personable. The home itself is a rustic log cabin on one of the best fishing rivers in the US. You are about 40 minutes from the West Yellowstone entrance. The water was high and muddy durning our visit but I still managed to catch 2-3 fish per hour. A local guide told me the best spot for me to fish on the river was to walk out the front door and start fishing, working upstream- no vehicle needed. All in all a great, relaxing time.

Rustic Family Vacation
We enjoyed fishing right across the road. The kitchen was well organized and it was easy to find everything we needed to prepare our meals. My 1.5 year old son loved the little stream that flows through the property. We also saw a bull moose in velvet right outside the kitchen window! Overall would return and recommend for a rustic family vacation.

Great location. Bad experience with owner
All was well except we had to call for information on accessing the property instead of it being sent to VRBO. No biggie. Owner asked that we take shoes off prior to entering the house which we did. All that was worn in the home was slippers. The owner called me after we checked out and stated the floor was dirty. No way. I left it as I would like our house to be left. He then asked me for additional money for cleaning. I absolutely refused. We paid for cleaning and a damage deposit which I am absolutely sure there was none. He cursed at me in the conversation and was very unprofessional. I’m sure extenuating circumstances arise but the lack of professionalism will prevent me from returning to this property.

Cabin near the rover
This is definitely a rustic cabin experience. We are amazed at the continuous temperature in the cabin, 95 degrees outside and 70 degrees inside with no a/c. The short walk to the river was great, although the trout remained elusive. The beds were noisy and not very comfortable. The stairs to the basement rooms are steep so be careful! The back sliding door is unusable and taped off. The porch door is off kilter so it took some muscles to open and close. The house is about 30 minute from Yellowstone, a nice drive past Quake Lake and Hebgen Lake. We were thoroughly happy with its distance from Wade and Cliff lakes.
