Blue Ridge Parkway Panoramic Paradise-60 Mile View, Blue Ridge Panoramic Paradise - 60 Mile View

If breathtaking, panoramic views, take your breath away sunrises, huge wood-burning rock fireplace and relaxing wrap-around porch with comfy seating is on your list, we have the place for you! Just one hour from Winston-Salem and two hours from Charlotte, five minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and 10 minutes from I-77, this spacious and luxurious cabin is perfect for the whole group (up to 12) or a sumptuous getaway for two. The drive in will take your breath away and you’ll pinch yourself that this is YOURS for a few days.

Standing on the wrap-around porch, you’ll see Pilot Mountain, the skyline of Winston-Salem and can actually view seven cities and multiple counties from your viewpoint. This four bedroom, three bathroom luxury cabin retreat accommodates 12. You’ll find yourself tucked into the beautiful forest, perched on the side of a mountain with no near neighbors to interrupt your relaxing trip.

Neighborhood:

Our neighborhood, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway, is worth the trip up the mountain. Sunrises from our deck will make you a morning person. Its a not to miss experience. And if you are lucky enough to catch the clouds rising high until only Pilot Mountain is visible in the sea of clouds, count yourself blessed. Our neighborhood is complete with its own waterfall, two ponds (you can fish and release), a covered bridge with a beautiful stream from which to read and picnic to your heart’s content, and trails through the woods to hike and find the most beautiful grotto near the covered bridge. Drive or walk to the opposite side of the neighborhood and watch the sunset as the sky turns all shades of pink and purple.

Creature Comforts:

Inside, you’ll find ALL the comforts of home. WIFI access will keep you connected, although you'll likely want to spend your time enjoying the outdoors around the cabin or in the area. We keep a fully stocked kitchen (it’s truly our home away from home), a refrigerator on both floors, a charcoal grill, a Keurig coffee maker, living rooms on two floors both featuring wood burning fireplaces, and we keep wood stocked up the hill from the house. There is also a firepit above the house. Our dining area features a table with seating for 8, and a bar with seating for two. A table with seating for two more is in the lower level living space. Our home is fully decorated for the month of December (artificial 10’ tree) to enjoy the Christmas season with your family or friends. Wrap yourself in a blanket with a hot cup of joe and be treated to a magnificent display at sunrise or your favorite beverage on the porch at twilight as the sky turns colors, or on a chilly evening, enjoy that beverage in front of a roaring fire with a great book. The starry skies at night are a sight to behold, and on and around July 4th, the firework displays in the surrounding towns and cities are stunning. There are streaming tv’s in each living space and the bedrooms. There is a large washer and dryer set. We supply sheets, towels, washcloths, dish towels, trash bags, laundry and dish detergent and dishwasher tablets. We leave fresh toilet paper and paper towels in the home to get you started.

Local Attractions:

If touring the Blue Ridge Parkway is your jam, we are 30 minutes from the iconic Mabry Mill that is a must see, 40 minutes from Meadows of Dan, Primland, Floyd, Chateau Morrisette Winery and Villa Appalachia Winery. Both wineries feature amazing outdoor seating and live music most weekends in season. Don’t miss Nancy’s Candy Shop in Meadows of Dan if you have children with you or just have a sweet tooth! We are just over half an hour from Foster Falls State Park which features tubing, horseback riding, bicycling on the New River Trail, live music in the amphitheater, playground and picnics by the River. We are also a half hour from the New River Trail Park and Trails in Fries, Virginia. We are 20 minutes from the nostalgic town of Mayberry, actually called Mount Airy. Enjoy the small shops, the Apple Festival, breweries, wineries and award-winning restaurants in the town famous for Andy Griffith and pork chop sandwiches.

If hiking is your jam, there are many trails within 20 minutes to an hour off the parkway. Check out our book in the cabin illustrating all the surrounding trails. If you love hearing live artists, check out the Blue Ridge Music Center just 20 minutes from the cabin which features the sounds of times gone by every weekend in season, as artists gather and entertain the crowd. It also features a museum and gift shop, as well as gorgeous easy hiking trails, and concerts in season. We are an hour from rock-sliding at Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina, a half hour from hiking at Pilot Mountain State Park and enjoy swimming in season and hiking at Hanging Rock State Park forty minutes away.

This is the perfect jumping off spot for a week or a month long vacation, or the dreamy romantic weekend. We know you will fall in love and return year after year.

Notes:

You will need a four wheel drive or all wheel drive to reach the cabin in winter months. There are steps into the cabin and for this reason, the cabin is not handicap-accessible. We are a cabin on the side of a mountain and do at times have thick fog, extreme cold and wind and have a pumpkin and lady bug season.

Outstanding view
6 of us stayed at the property for 5 days while riding touring motorcycles in the surrounding area, including the Back of the Dragon. We had great weather which gave us a spectacular view from the porch, where we spent most of our time. The cabin is high up on the mountain and offers a view of about 60 miles on a clear day. We saw deer walking through the property, along with various other wildlife from hummingbirds to eagles to fireflies. The rooms were comfortable and the entire group was quite pleased with the accommodations. Fast Internet for those of us who cannot completely disconnect! If you are on a motorcycle, the driveway is a bit steep and is gravel, so you may want to park on the blacktop pavement slightly uphill from the cabin. If we come back for the Mt. Airy Autumn Leaf Festival, this wil lbe our first choice of a place to stay.
