Clean hotel room in a convenient location for us. The only downsides were the noise of the front door - not sure whose great idea it was to put a family room (206) directly above the main entrance and opposite the exit of the pub and the bed was rather hard - I compared it to the slab you would lay on for a Turkish massage but some might like that, I personally didn't.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and it always had a welcoming atmosphere but not this time.When I booked in it was though they did not want me there.I asked for a room tab and although on previous occasions they have set one up this time they would not but offered me a pre payed credit of £25 for each night which I took.I didn’t use that credit on the 2nd night but am still awaiting a refund.As I booked out online I expected them to to e-mail me a break down of my bill but I am still waiting.

So far so good, only gripe is a double room, but only 1 each of hand and bath towels. Luckily I’m travelling alone on this occasion. Had a nice hot bath, tomorrow will be if shower is good. Update only average sleep, there is a join in the middle of the mattress for some very strange reason, and no matter what you find yourself in the join. See pictures Downgraded to a 3 star Found out why, 2 singles mattress put togethe. WHO DOES THIS. SEE PIC

The childrens play area and beer garden were great for keeping children occupied. The staff were friendly. The breakfast options were great and good value for money. The room was clean, spacious and ideal for our trip.

Going downhill fast
Unfortunately gone downhill especially over the past year. The rooms cleanliness was on the edge of acceptable best not look too closely. Breakfast was terrible. Cheap sausages which were inedible accompanied an over cooked assortment. The overall experience of breakfast was as bad as it gets and only surpassed by the cold tastless carvery the day before. But the what was the absolute worst part .. in the cold light of day as we sat eating our breakfast the thick layer of muck on the blinds accompanied by decaying flies and insects. Out of public sight out of mind .. what else cant you see here. Staff however were all without exception lovely
