Great place to stay to experience Cape Breton!
The 2 bedroom, 3 bed house was great. It was clean, well stocked and located right off the beach. It is quiet with a great view. Highly recommend staying here if you don't mind the drive to get places. Cape Breton in the fall is absolutely beautiful! A must see!

Perfect spot for a family of 4
We chose this property for our first trip to Cape Breton. A wonderful place! Location: beautiful ocean view and if you are an early riser, a spectacular sunrise experience. Stoney beach perfect for evening bonfires. The drive to the property is about 8 minutes off the main road with wonderful views. Good proximity to the Cabot Trail and downtown Sydney. Accommodations: Property has everything you’ll need. One item to note is that the bedroom with 2 queen beds is on the second level which does not have an air conditioning unit. It was very hot for sleeping during our stay in July which had 30 degree C temperatures. If there is a breeze, it cools off in the evening with windows open. Main level bedroom and living area appropriately cooled by the ac unit. Note: this listing mentions a hot tub but there isn’t one. Owner was very attentive to questions when asked. Overall we highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Cape Breton!

Remote Stay in Cape Dauphin
New home very comfortable, right on the cliffs. Beautiful views! Accessible beach. Internet is intermittent - weather dependent. Dirt road into property (9k) is in need of repair.

Awesome Quiet Location
The property was further than we thought from the main highway and the road was rather bumpy and slippery when wet. It's a lovely quiet place with a shoreline path. It was clean & well set up for 2 couples. Oh yes, the internet connection was sporatic so be prepared for that. Thanks Richard for everything!

A wonderful getaway
This cottage on Cape Dauphin is a lovely, spacious, well furnished, and comfortable place to enjoy the beauty of Cape Breton. Its quiet location amidst evergreens overlooking the ocean made it perfect for relaxing. Even on the day it rained I enjoyed just sitting on the screened porch and reading. It's about a half-hour in different directions to the Cabot Trail and the towns of Baddeck and North Sydney, and all the cultural sights and natural vistas we wanted to see and explore. The towns offer excellent but always casual dining, and supermarkets in Baddeck and North Sydney offer anything you'd want to buy to prepare your own meals (stop at one of them for food supplies on your way to the house before you arrive; Richard has provided everything else). The kitchens, bedrooms, and baths are very well equipped, and we appreciated the fullsize washer and dryer. Richard was an excellent host and communicated with us well. With all that we saw and did, we still had lots of time to rest, relax, and enjoy being in a beautiful, calming part of the world--and the house on Cape Dauphin had everything to do with that.

Cut short by Fiona
We loved the property and were looking forward to five relaxing days exploring Cape Breton. Unfortunately, hurricane Fiona's projected track forced us into deciding to leave the island immediately. Our primary concern was being 9km from the highway on a gravel road already showing signs of potholes and washboarding. The host, Richard, was very helpful during our truncated stay. We sincerely hope his property was not damaged by the onslaught of Fiona.

Heaven is a place....in Cape Dauphin
This cottage truly is magical! The property is clean, well-maintained, bright, open, airy, and quiet. The setting itself is amazing - a perfect base for accessing the Cabot Trail, hiking trails, big sandy beaches, the local 'artisan' trail, and local ceilidhs. All of the pictures and descriptions are accurate. The kitchen has basic supplies needed for a cottage stay, and having a washer/dryer was a bonus. Our family of 4 (all 18+) loved having our own private beach for campfires and star-gazing, the screen room for morning coffee, and the deck overlooking the ocean. Check-in and check-out were exceptionally smooth, and our host Richard was very prompt and helpful in answering questions from the initial time of booking, through to the end of our stay. We would DEFINITELY love to return some day!

Beautiful retreat on Cape Dauphin
Excellent, relaxing stay in this virtually new, quiet, and lovely beachside cottage. Ample sleeping and living space for a couple or smaller group, a well-appointed kitchen with some items provided, including spices, olive oil, and coffee filters, beautiful views across the water, including gorgeous sunrises, and direct access to a quiet cove and beach with crystal clear water for swimming during a July stay. New Campbellton Rd, though gravel, is well maintained, and there are restaurants, the Cabot Trail, hikes, and kayak/boat tours within an easy drive. I would also recommend picking up groceries on your way there. The host lives next door, is quick to communicate, and available if needed. Highly recommend.

Great getaway
The home is new and comfortable but small kitchen and sitting area. One TV located in the upstairs bedroom. It has a fabulous view of the water and nice beach to explore steps away. It is in a wooded area, very quiet, cozy, A great get away. I did not give 5 out of 5 as communication with the host was awkward prior to arrival when I requested check in info. He thought Vrbo was providing it and Vrbo advised me to contact the host as it was not posted. Eventually it sorted out prior to arrival. There were a couple of things I thought could have been cleaner, but no show stoppers. We had to scrub a pot before we could use it, and that may have been from a previous renter. Overall, it was a very nice relaxing place and had everything we needed to be comfortable as we toured Cape Breton

Bras d'Or Lakefront Escape Cottage
The property is remote and a wonderful getaway from it all. Two of us spent four nights here. You have total privacy in a lovely home which is new construction. The owner, Richard, came over with a lobster pot the first night and was accessible should you have any concerns as he lives next door, but a ways from the cottage so you are very private. We loved the deck which is surrounded by a glass enclosure providing unobstructed views of the water. Bear in mind it is about a 4.5 mile drive down an unpaved road and six steps up to the house. Once you are there it is a piece of heaven.
