We were late to arrive (the desk closed at 22:30 and we had traffic issues).
The Hotel kindly called me twice to ask how things were and then to say they had checked me in and they would leave the key under the mat so that I could get to my room.
Breakfast was very good and the staff were really great.
The room itself was cold when we arrived, the room was large and the radiator was small... I do appreciate we arrived late (something I had put in the notes when booking) but the room radiator was set to 14 when we entered the room. We also noticed way too late that the radiator in the bathroom was turned off.
Appreciate they might not want to turn the heating on in the room if nobody is there, appreciate that we were late to arrive, but maybe leave some extra bedding in the room. My Mum, who was travelling with me, went to bed in her jumper and put her coat over the cover on the bed.
Secondly the hotel is in a quiet location but this also means sound does travel. The person in the room above us was pacing around their room until 02:00, we could hear every step. We could also hear the person coughing next door, I don't believe the person was coughing loudly, just an average cough.
A really nice hotel, but I do think that the rooms need more sound absorbing type things in them... for example bigger curtains so they cover the windows better, provide a bit more insulation and also help absorb sound.
