"All in all nice little cottage for a couple and good as was pet friendly to go up Durham to visit our son up uni and take our dog to see him too. Cottage was nice a little place although i think the tv was slightly too high on wall. As we arrived there were 3 plumbing vans parked outside so had to park out side another cottage for bout hour n half till they moved their vans after going in pub at front of cottages before parking own car then outside our own cottage. "Everything was lovely, clean, well equiped and just as advertised. Full kitchen with all the equipment and even some supplies. Bath was clean and had all needed supplies. Beds were great, comphy. The only thing I want to draw attention to is accessibility. Not a criticism, but if one were disabled they would want to know: 2 steps down to kitchen, 3 steps more to bathroom, a full flight of steep steps outside down to the washer under the stairs"

"The lodge was perfect. Spotlessly clean and pretty and everything you could need. However what made our holiday absolutely perfect was the garden the lodge is set in. Stunningly beautiful, magical grounds that you could see from all sides of the lodge. With a folly perfect for an outdoor fire and BBQ. Central to all of the North East and Durham attractions. I have been twice now and can’t wait to go again. Magical!"

The setting really brought everyone together with space for everyone to be involved. Great hotel but staff not so good

"Great hotel have stayed many times before. Food was great but person taking order did not listen and ended up with two dinners when there were three of us . There was no excuse for this so ended up waiting for another dinner to be cooked so we were not able to sit and enjoy together. Ruined the day after a long day traveling. So disappointed."

"Nice stay. Several of our party (3rooms) were not able to check in at 3 and waited until after 4 for room allocation. This did not help with the children as they wanted to use the pool and had no room number or anywhere to change. Luckily they all used our room not that convenient though."

"Fantastic building full of character and history. Courtyard rooms are lovely but not overly great on soundproofing as we could hear the neighbours too easily, also, the blind in the bathroom was an awful fit to the window but overall a brilliant experience that I would do again in heartbeat. My wife and I played hide and seek in all the nooks and crannies of the castle and we’re both in our fifties so a fab place"

"Room was very comfortable and a decent size for a standard double room. Plenty of wardrobe space with a safe for valuables. Bath with shower over was nice and hot. Restaurant for eving meal and breakfast was very nice. Room was very hot at breakfast time but a nice temperature for evening meal. Service was good."
